BobbyH
Can anyone tell me why when I load a cartridge into the bottom barrel, when closing the gun it rubs against the face of the action? I have tried to capture it in photos.

I've been told by 2 gunsmiths to not do that every time, as it gives unnecessary wear and tear! I still clean every time regardless, and will take the hit in 10 years on new ejectors if I have to. ianspire
Can you see any wear to the side of the bottom ejector, where it locates into the action?
Fil
On most O/U's with coil sprung ejectors when you close the gun there is a slot in the side of the action where a lug on the ejector runs in. That slot pulls the ejector inwards towards the barrel face when you close the gun. If the lug wears it upsets the timing of the ejector getting pulled in. It'll pull in late thus the cartridge rubbing the face of the action.

If you cleaned your ejectors every time you shot, you wouldn't have any time to shoot in the first place. 😅 It's a bit like washing the car after every journey. Once every 500-1000 cartridges mine gets an 'involved' cleaning depending on the season. It's a 694 action so has the little magnetic discs to release the ejectors. I have other guns which need to be disassembled, screws removed etc to get the ejectors out. It's a twice a year job with them.

Update for you all…. i have removed the ejector, cleaned it and oiled it and made no difference. It seems that the action isn’t pulling the ejector in all the way enough, thus letting the bottom cartridge rub on the action.
samboy
I have just had a look at my Beretta 694 and 682 and they have the same marks. Both are cleaned weekly. I think it is just a thing that happens. I have had it happen on other guns too.
