Minky
So IF the OP wants/needs SG to shoot deer why all the shilly shallying about the Bush. Out with it. I don't know of any muntjac down here but we do have Roe and Fallow but I've never heard of anyone using a shotgun in place of a rifle. I do remember when we went up to Holts there seemed to be deer everywhere just grazing on the side of the road. And loads run over. Very rare to see any of ìthat down here. I doubt he does as not legal unless under certain strict criteria. Who cares what he wants it for… People use for various things

Minky
That thought had crossed my mind. Yep thats true. I imagine a lot of the carcass would only be fit for dog meat after ssg from 35 paces

Can't get it from online stores I've ordered from in the past as always out of stock, and my local shop can't get it anymore. Thinking might have to start reloading myself. I've got loads surplus to my needs of many different brands, left from my practical shotgun days. I'll have a dig round over the next day or 2 I'm in Swanton Morley. dipper
I was given a small cardboard box with a few LBS of sg shot taken from some home guard cartridges..I loaded a few a couple of years ago .patterns not very good .Another guy I know who’s dad was a retired gunsmith gave me some SSG. and some BB .About the only use would be crows nests .woul be useless for foxes .If I was to load for foxes I would load low velocity steel wads possibly buffer .There’s a guy on a American forum called Wade Rush gets very good patterns he uses very hard shot and plays about with screw in turky chokes . Dodder
I have a few Special SG shells left from a box of 10 from about 40 years ago. There are 9 pellets in each & I remember patterning them on a bit of old ply about 4' square against a big bank from maybe 35yds. When I examined the ply there were only 3 holes and a deer sized animal would have stood a good chance of being completely missed... Personally, I'd never use them on anything further than about 10yds max. Edited December 11 by Dodder
TIGHTCHOKE
They each have their uses and their own limitations; Shot Size Diameter in mm Number of Pellets LG 9.1mm 6 SG 8.4mm 8 SSSG 6.8mm 15 AAA 5.1mm 37 I used to use the SG's with 9 pellets for fox, very useful.
