I particularly like their Sticky Pickle but they do a good red onion chutney. I think that Tesco stock their range. I also agree with bruno22rf that the Aldi caramelised onion chutney is brilliant. JohnfromUK Posted yesterday at 07:05 Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:05 I have to admit to being probably very downmarket in finding standard Branston to be the one I keep coming back to. I also keep an onion chutney and have tried several. They were all nice and no particular one stands out as 'favourite'. A good piccalilli seems harder to find as most (to me anyway). seem too 'gloopy' and sweet. Tracklements is quite nice, but rather sharp and vinegary. TIGHTCHOKE Posted yesterday at 08:16 Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:16 I reckon I have tried most pickles and chutneys, Branston is a good base line to work from. But, there are loads out there.

More than likely due to reduced sugar, we buy Morrisons sweet pickled onions but I still find them a bit acidic so add a few spoons of sugar to take the edge off the sharpness, you could try adding some sugar to Branston's pickle. marsh man Posted yesterday at 13:24 Report Share Posted yesterday at 13:24 I have had the above one a few times along with several others we used to buy from the game fairs , like all things you try for the first time you find some are alright and others you wouldn't buy again , I have just recently bought this one from M + S , it might well be to spice'y for me but as it was only a pound it was worth a try . Yep, I find with a lot of pickles now they have reduced sugar, so usually end up putting some sugar in them. 46 minutes ago, marsh man said: I have had the above one a few times along with several others we used to buy from the game fairs , like all things you try for the first time you find some are alright and others you wouldn't buy again , I have just recently bought this one from M + S , it might well be to spice'y for me but as it was only a pound it was worth a try . I'm the other way round - I find many of the pickles too sweet for me - but then I don't have a sweet tooth (if you ignore chocolate!) and I'm supposed to be frugal with sugar consumption. I think my taste for a slightly sweet pickle came from my nan and mom, at Christmas they would thinly slice Spanish onion and cucumber, make a mix of vinegar, water and sugar and pickle it, lovely with cold turkey on a sandwich.
