Attempted murder at hospital

Unfortunately I think it’s what “happened” to this country and not what’s happening.  The what’s happening is just a symptom of what’s already happened and is only going to get worse. Until punishment fits the crime and discipline is instilled from a young age nothing will change.

i was brought up in the 80’s and taught right from wrong and to respect my elders and my peers, I knew from a young age what behaviour was acceptable and what was not. The way I hear youngsters talking to their parents and elders in general is an absolute disgrace, respect for others seems non existent. The country seems to have turned feral and everyone out for themselves. Obviously I’m not tarring all with the same brush but the problems are far reaching and need major change

I also was taught right from wrong when growing up as a child in the 50s and teenager in the 60s, we got into mischief but nothing like it is today, as you say there is just no respect for anyone or anything today.

We don’t know if the person had mental health issues or whatever, nor what was used, but yet again it happened because there is nothing to prevent it.

The latest news report says "A hospital nurse was fighting for her life tonight after being stabbed in a 'senseless attack' - allegedly by a patient who became 'angry' about having to wait".  In my book that is probably 'symptomatic' of some sort of mental health problem, but I'm no expert.  It also seems that whatever was used was "a 'sharp instrument' that wasn't a knife"

Also perhaps indicative was this quote "Speaking outside the hospital, another nurse said: 'There was a row with a patient. It just got out of hand but it wasn't a case of the patient going berserk.  'It was just a disagreement that can happen late at night. It happens all the time"

That it can happen all the time is really worrying.

I had a long wait (11 hrs mostly in a corridor) in A&E around 4 years ago and the amount of shouting (which I guess was abuse) and disturbance was considerable.  It was a Friday and I was in A&E untol after midnight, so I guess I got the worst time for drunks, but it was also during Covid when many venues were closed.

Possibly this attitude starts from the top too and spreads down?
