That would be my vote but it would probably lead to an increase in crime  because they almost certainly wouldn't go out and get a job to replace the benefits

They don't go out to get a job anyway.

I went into the local Aladdins Cave for a fridge light bulb this morning.  They have an entire wall FULL of every type of kitchen style knife imaginable. They are there for anyone to buy, among the vaping equipment and computer accessories.  Who needs mail order  ?

On this occasion the delivery driver doesn't know who else lives at your address, so he's no doubt following company procedures,  it's inconvenient but that's all.

That's kind of my point really, the laws just inconvenience the ones that were never part of the problem and makes no difference to the problem.

That's not all though is it, it has taken the delivery firm 3 attempts to deliver a parcel because it is a knife and I very much doubt he knew it was a knife anyway. I live in an out of the way rural place where they wouldn't have been just passing so it has cost them time and money. It didn't make any difference to anybody other than the people that are very unlikely to commit knife crime in the first place. Yes it is an inconvenience for all involved but it has not done any good anywhere has it?  Where does it stop? do you think it would be a good idea to only have people using screwdrivers while supervised for example?

I managed to rebook the delivery for Friday (tomorrow) when either myself or my wife would be around. They turned up today about 5 minutes after we came in from a shopping trip. They handed the parcel to my wife, no questions, no signature.

I'd have had it delivered when I was in 🤷‍♂️

And some people probably need supervision, but no.

It was off an online knife selling company but no option to say when it was delivered and no indication of how long from ordering it would be. Happy to be around for DPD and their one hour slots, fed up of waiting around all day for deliveries that don't turn up. But that is a different topic anyway.
