My point I made is of the hidden damage that this creates. That is where many a landowner will shoot dead any and all hares on their property so as to remove any fear that it may become used for illegal coursing. I hope that others that respond might also make that point. That fear of coursing is leading to the elimination hares from the countryside.

Legal hare coursing meetings with a judge on horseback and a slipper releasing two greyhounds simultaneously was a great sport and a real spectacle which never did anyone any harm. Banned through ignorance, prejudice and misinformation. A crying shame.

Agreed.

I attended the last Waterloo Cup - a brilliant day.

After future trials were banned the landowner had all the hares killed. Victory for the antis, but a bad day for over 1000 hares.

And I would hazard it's a decent educated guess that more foxes are killed now than when hunting was legal. But then it was NEVER about animal welfare.

Fox shooting with lamps and night vision is a pastime in it's own right now.
