Minky Posted Wednesday at 18:45 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 18:45 (edited) 19 hours ago, Pukka Bundook said: Minky, "How odd are the bears?" Lol! Bears are funny people! They will graze in fields with cows, but sometimes try and swat a calf. Had a calf a few years back with a couple of pounds of meat missing out of one ham. He'd either been swatted by a bear or a wolf had dabbed him. No way could I catch him to treat him, and his mother was wild and protective. She kept his wound clean and the hide and hair grew back, but always had a great hollow where that muscle got took out. An old bloke l lnew now long gone but a one time guide and outfitter once said to me "l've never gone looking for a grizzly bear" ,"Oh. Why's that?" " 'Cos I never lost one!" IF I LIVED OUT THERE..... highly improbable... Far TOO COLD. AND MOZZIES... THEY EAT ME. I'm too sweet. 😁😆😇 I think that I would be far happier in somewhere like Portugal or Turkey. Warm / Hot . There would have to be an Exclusion zone. Like 1/4 mile no exceptions. Like electric fences around the fields. And a (Lawrence of Arabia style) "KILL THEM ALL," POLICY, take no prisoners " Kill all of them. I expect that the dogs would be grateful of bear steaks, minced bear and meat gravy with biscuits, etc. Go on tell me.. you aren't allowed to slaughter the grizzlies. We arent allowed to shoot grizzlies without license, Minky! Mozzies not bad. Some dry years we hardly see any. Some wet years they make up for it! Apologies for politics. WELSH1! So your telling me that gamekeepers don't have an Exclusion zone for charlies on pheasant shoots. I know lots of keepers who are out at EVERY opportunity all weather's to CONTROL Charlie. Especially when the birds go to wood. One keeper I knew lost 500 poultry in one night when two cubs got into a pen.

It got up minus 17 this afternoon, so didnt feel like I needed gloves after the cold we had! Been minus 30 C at times and never above -20 c for a couple of weeks. Could be a lot colder but I dont mind warm! One bad time some years back it got real cold. Minus 70F with wind. Neighbour had his tractor heated and all lagged up for feeding cows. He got abouf 200 yards down the road and she froze up. Had to walk back. Froze his lungs and he was years before he was right again. Lot of cows froze standing up that winter. That's before we moved here. Ive only seen minus 45C or so l think. Hunted in 40 below but not much fun! And dont lick your gun! Soon as these antibiotics get workibg l wont have time to sit playing with my phone! Lol. Edited Wednesday at 23:30 by Pukka Bundook To add more rambling! I was only thinking of extremes like Canada where we are farming on the edge with dangerous wildlife that roams at will.

I'd get off the old Fordson Major with a Lamborne canvas cab at six from ploughing, and shiver till nine. Chilled right through. That doesn't happen here. Lambourne canvas cab takes me back, I remember when they used to get so tatty and shredded they didn't afford any benefit at all.
