Gammon dinner

Decided to have gammon for a change tonight. 2kg gammon just about did our family of 4 along with roasties and carrots. I cooked it  wrapped in tinfoil then finished it off with a glaze of wholegrain mustard and honey form my own bees.

My two lads can eat for Ireland.  I was hoping to have some left over for sandwiches tomorrow but that doesn't look likely.

Thank you for all the kind replies. I would usually soak a gammon for  a day or so to remove the salt but didn't have a chance with this one.  I only bought it on the way home from work.

My mum would always cook ours in water ( then add that water to the dogs dry food) but I usually just bake it in tinfoil which is handier and a but quicker.  I also think it makes it more moist as nothing can escape the double wrap of foil.

There is a small but of a heel left for me tomorrow so at least the sandwiches are guaranteed tomorrow 😅

Ditch,

You didnt ask me, but we would sometimes put a good big  handfull of sweet meadow hay in with a ham when we boiled it.

Brought out  a lovely flavour!

Lovely looking roast, Gmm!!
