when the time comes to die

If there was a god out there, how come some scumbags (by any definition of the word) win the lottery?

And as someone said to me once, enjoy life to the full here, as no-one has come back to say that it's a damn sight better on the other side.

On my soap box now (and raring to go), "Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you" is the best way to run your life.

Best stop before someone puts me up for a sainthood (or to be an MP, as that's the best scam of the lot)

Here endeth my bit - so far....

I don't know fellas i wish things were so simple and to belive in a certain religion would give you all that we need, it seems to me that many religions are almolst identical when it comes to whats important ie the golden rule "do on to others as you have them do on to you" unfortunatley it seems easier for people to belive in a hell, some very religouse people, belivers, and scholars, speek of a time like this where the world becomes to complicated and grey and loss of morals, look at the western world today some believe this is the devils work. I don't have a fixed belief and yes religion could almolst be called saitans intervention to gods true message, and we are on this earth to grow wise and to fair through the worst times death isnt the end remember that, i know there is a god what ever that is but don't feel so glum, have positive energy in you and be a good person and a state of well being will carry you through life and beyond not to sound like a bible thumper but yes i believe in a god and a after life i can't speculate what that might be

I wish I had a faith, and I am jealous of those that do but for some reason I just cant believe that there is anything after death. I would love to believe that there is something, because I am genuinely scared of dying and there being nothing afterwards.

amen to that one m8 it's not something i like to dwell on for to long as i find it very upsetting and have done since i was a youngster.

i think there is one thing out there we all can guarantee on.....

Death comes to us all eventually in one way or another

A good chance to live on somewhere and help after your death.

Strange

I just can't bring myself to believe in God. There's too much cynicism in me and too many thing scream out as being wrong with the whole idea of it.

I'm not going to start dissing the bible, or saying why, but I just chose to believe in things that I know to exist (like myself), rather than abstract ideas/myths.

I think it started at school... I was forced to go to church as a kid and that put me off the physical side of religion Then when I started thinking about things a bit more, I really had a hard time justifying any sort of belief in God. Mind you, I don't hold religion against people, it's just not for me.

I'd rather belive in Valhalla than heaven or hell.

I believe in "A God" as I don`t believe that any one religion has got it on the nail yet.

One of the main reasons is that when I was down in the Falklands my wife was giving birth to my daughter and the epidural needle went too far and stopped her breathing and heart. Now lots of people talk about a light etc. but my wife remembers floating above someone being resuscitated and they were being fairly brutal and shouting at her she then realises that it is her own self she is watching. Next thing she remembers is being brought round, now I can see that if she saw a light or something similar it could be due to asphyxia, but to see yourself being resuscitated seems to indicate that she was well on her way to the afterlife.

We`ll all know one way or another.

My lack of belief started at Sunday School <_< <_<

I was 6 years old and it's one of my earliest memories. My Sister and I were sent off to Sunday School and we would sit in these groups with some old ****, and I seem to remember I didn't mind going.

One Sunday, I asked the old **** the standard question that everybody must consider at some stage in their lives:

"If God sees all these bad things happening to people, like wars and things, why doesn't he stop it?"

Fair question I thought, in my tender years. Well the answer I got was :

"God moves in mysterious ways":lol:

Yeah right. Even at 6 years old, I recognised a cop-out. That was the day I stopped believing. :good::big_boss:

Of course, nobody has been able to give me a satisfactory answer in the 47 years since that day, and nobody ever will.

I believe that we were given free will so that we were not slaves to God and that we can then be judged for the deeds that we did or did not perform on earth.
