pavman
am looking to re stock myself, looks like most 32g plastic wad loads are £200 and up, if I could get a metal detector that picks up lead there must be a few quid laying about the farms
paulos
not happy going to spit my dummy out and brake my toys this is the time of the year for me the shotgun realy gets used. I'm afraid you're not the only one :yp: It's getting a bit ridiculous, i went and bought a couple of boxes of express supreme game the other day and they were £6.10 a box. The last time I bought some they were about £4.

I know of eight 'close' shooters using recycled shot. Their scores are going up because the lead now knows its way. :yp: Seriously, it's sold for 80p a kilo at grounds that are scooping it up. After cleaning, the deformed pellets have bigger interstices and are 'bulked out'; a 24 gram load takes up roughly the volume of 28gram of factory shot. And it's going by the tonne! The Beater
I work in the building trade & spoke to some roofers few weeks back about lead prices. the price of sheet lead for flashing has gone up, but no way near the % cartridges have. think someone has cottoned on they can rise prices way past the % lead has gone up on world market & make lots of ££, because at the end of the day we'll all pay the extra to carry on with our sport. Its like when fags & beer go up you still buy them cos you enjoy them. what ever you enjoy you'll pay the extra ££ to do it. Lucky i'm stocked up for 2yrs, when £150 for 1000 few weeks back :yp:

Only use the sipe for game find them very fast and hard hitting, the chap in the gunshop had to check to see if they had went up cos he said it is almost a weekly increase these days. rabbithunter
Blackbart why would the chap in the gun shop have to check to see if the price went up ? i would of though he didn,t buy the carts at the new price but had them in the shop from last time he got some stock in. If you see what i,am getting at . I wonder how many retailers are cashing in on the way carts are going up ,I,am not saying that its wrong to make a profit
Emmsy
yes its just the cartridge prices being inflated rather than lead prices, just another excuse. this last month i could have bought 34 and 36gm clay loads for around the £100 a thousand. yet the 28gm are like £140+. Guest The Outlaw
I have been offered big clay loads at silly prices, no one wants them. You cant use bigger than 28gram at most of the shoots I go to. Tony

caplock
Stop buying 'em for a month, take a break and do something else for a few weeks whether it's big or small amounts. That's assuming of course you have a life outside of shooting. :yp: We used to club together and buy 'em from the same place by the 1000's between ten of us, blasting away most weekends. By agreement we have held off now for a month or two from the regular chummy who's now got a sweat on wondering who's undercutting him. Keeps asking where we are going and that he'll match any deal out there. Too little too late the theiving ******. He's the #### who keeps banging on about boring/ dull packaging that the shells come in, is anyone else so sad that they wouldn't buy a cartridge because the box might cause derision amongst other shooting saddos? Jesus I couldn't care less if they came in a black bin bag, it'd be few quid off the price! Let 'em keep their stock sitting about for a while, it'll soon pass back up the chain to the manufacturers when restocking orders take a tumble. No stock shifting = loss of profit and prices will fall quicker than a furniture outlets christmas sale!

caplock
True if you buy a few here and there, but when buying in bulk it's worth switching traders especially when dealing in cash. Stops you being taken for granted especially when there is a few tons in stock that were not bought that morning and the trader trots out 'I'll have to check the price list for changes........ ohhh cost of lead is shocking/ it's the Chinease market/ raw prices have shot up etc, etc" Do me a favour !!! ROBLATCH
just bought 1000 nsi ok game 31gm no5 £127.thought that was reasonable.
anser2
Clay shells are much cheaper than game loads , I guess because of higher demand. As long as you get them in 6s or 7s they are fine , but I got given some 7 1\2s ( eng size ) and they plucked 20 yard pigeons ( I guess because of the dense patten ) , but just stung them at 35 yards ( not enough penatration ). I got RC1 compertition line in No 6s for £152 a 1000 the other day. So there still some reasonable priced shells about.
