Bisley 2008

Need to start lists for what is required and who is bringing what.

OK, I thought I’d kick off a new thread for Bisley 2008 logistics’.

If anyone who wants to camp at Bisley, but doesn’t have the equipment and needs to share/borrow, I can help with the following:

Tents (I currently have three):

One small dome tent - comfortable for two people.

One frame tent - rated for four, but very comfortable for three.

One tunnel tent - rated for eight, uber comfy for four.

Cooking equipment: One gas cooker, one gas and one coal BBQ.

Assorted other: Tables: two small and one large folding table. Camping fridge 12V. Cool box and ice packs. Folding Chairs " four or five

Miscellaneous: If anyone is flying in to Heathrow from Scotland/Ireland and in need of a lift, I can help. Also, if anyone is arriving early on the Friday, I may be able to accommodate for the night (as long as you’re house trained :) - haven’t run this one by Mrs Lefty yet, though) as I live only three or four miles from Bisley and about ten from LHR, so have easy access to home and a couple of spare bedrooms. I don’t have any spare gun storage though, as my cabinet is full.

Shotties - I have three: Two Sporters and a Skeet gun and am happy to lend one to anyone who requires a gun for the Sunday Sporting.

Cartridges - I can help with carts for non SGC holders.

FAC - I have done but would like ‘try my hand’ if offered the opportunity. Obviously this has cost implications for the FAC holders and therefore, I suggest a central kitty, to be funded by all non-FAC holders (who wish to shoot) in attendance to help pay for ammo/range costs. Would £20 be sufficient? - Could FAC holders give this some feedback on this idea.

Perhaps this thread could be ‘pinned’.

I think that is a very good idea Lefty :)

I will always let anyone have a go with my guns as I was very grateful to people who did the same for me before I had an FAC.

I refuse any offers of money (although beer/food is never refused) then when I get home I go to put my ammo away and realise I haven't got any

The Mungler cabinet will be well stocked for toys to bring and play with.

Incidentally the Walther .22 GSP rifle has now landed - once I can get some high enough mounts to get the scope on I will stick up some photos up with a picture of something dead :)

Edit:

How do you list your toys at the end of your posts - such as NJC has?

Calamity and I will gladly pay our way and we also have lots of shotties to bring with us for loaning out, got bundles of shells as well to keep costs down, 24gram and 28 gram. We have .410, 20 bore, 12 bore and a chance of a 10 bore but no ammo for that yet.

I will gladly pay into a kitty or supply beer/food if anyone is willing to let a complete FAC novice have a few shots.

I only live up the road in London but think I'll be camping over but mostly playing in the Sunday clay shooting.

All cartridges must be fibre wad on the clay grounds, so that may limit your choices a little.

I shall bring bunny burgers, sausages etc for the evening BBQ. There was too much food last year so we have to try harder this year.

If they wish someone can borrow our SBS 12 bore for the clays or share my 20 bore. The first year I went Baldrick very kindly let me share his 12 bore Browning so I am more than happy if someone to let someone use my gun if they are in the same team as me for the clays. :good:

Anyone know the camping rules ?

I have a tent but was thinking about taking out the rear seats of the missus 4x4 and sleeping in there. (I know some festivals are funny about people kipping in their motors.)

I snore like a train, you will all thank me if I sleep in the car !:good:

Camping rules are roughly "here's a spot out of the way of the 2000+ hairy ***** bikers, do as you like"

Won't be an issue, though if any part of your truck looks anything at all like a very large branch SussexLad might well burn it :good:
