Dirty Harry
sounds like a pop up trying to get you to download some other rubbish.
BSA Shaun
Have you got norton or similar? If not download AVG and run it to get rid. Unfortunately in this situation what I would do is re-format the hard drive and do a complete clean install.
ShaggyRS6
First post them pictures of your Ferret Court Have you got any Anti Virus Protection? Maybe Download Norton Virus Checker, it will cost you, but that will cure it. Also try Adaware for the Spyware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Bagsy
Search for AD-Aware, it's a good spyware remover - and it's free!
davo
Sounds very much like the 'Vundo' type virus, it causes pop ups to appear constantly with security threats and anti virus programmes to download. Very difficult to get rid of, I went here, http://malwareremoval.com/forum/index.php for help they will guide you through the infection and how to get rid of it, register, log on then post a 'help' type thread in the appropriate section, it could take a few days to get a response but worth the wait. In the mean time DO NOT open or download any of the security programmes. Hope you get fixed soon.

ChrisNicholls
What software is mentioned in the pop ups? It's malware no doubt about that and can be a ****** to be rid of.

Suffolk shooter
I now use avast. I downloaded AVG and it slowed down my computerwell bad. Ditto, It made the whole thing take ages to get going to the point I could use it and then took ages once it did. Binned it and straight away Computer runs normal again. Never had this problem with Norton, it may not be free but it works, doesn't conflict and is trustworthy. AVG was on the work computer as well and took ages exactly the same. Cranfield
Download AdAware or SpyBot and do a scan. It doesn't have to be a virus, just a scam to get you to download and buy a spyware programme. At this stage I wouldn't consider reformatting, that can be a major job. migster
As Cranfield said, Spybot it, it always works for me.

I just set it to moniter the system and in 6 years have only had one virus and that was removed easily.
