henry d
Set off at 8am and it was a steady drizzle but by the time we set up it was less and less and the wind started to increase So hopefully it wouldn`t be long before the pigeons moved, Jim was first to shoot and missed both, then I scored a single and in 15 minutes we had the birds for the rotary. There were big flocks of 50-100 and we just let them drift in and then waved our hands at them to scare them off. Soon they were coming in ones and twos and occaisionally up to ten, mostly R-L crossers, so in the wind it was fun. No left and rights but some good and bad shooting for us both we ended with 48 Woodpigeon and 3 Crows. Check out the one with the unusual growth on the beak, it was in very poor condition and left for the foxes/cats.

Teal
A good bag hd! I've shot a pigeon like that before, it was a young one, like yours looks to be? I was told it might have been due to having being shot before, but I doubted that, I reckon it's probably some sort of growth or defect since it's been out of the egg, and it's only when it's have to fend for itself (ie not given milk by the parents) that it's condition drops and presumably they die. The one I shot was also not in a great state... which I suppose could also lend itself to the being shot before theory- but I just don't see how/why they would go like that? henry d
It was soft like either a growth or possibly an injury and I presume that it had difficult eating and that would account for it`s poor condition.
