wet and cloudy in Bristol but no high winds as yet

Where in Bristol are you? Did you not have strong winds last night? Over here in Portishead we had strong Southerly's last night... all quiet again at the moment but apparently it's veering to the West and blowing up again this afternoon!

It says on the news that :

"Prime Minister Gordon Brown held a crisis telephone conference with officials from the EA, the Met Office and relevant government departments, as well as the emergency services and armed forces, to discuss the storm."

Thank God for that. I can sleep easy in my bed now. There may be a chance for all of us. Gordy's at the helm.

Roger me with a stiff wire brush, what a relief that is

Its verrrrrrrrrry interesting down here.

The perpetual roaring does get a bit wearing after a while and the cat doesn't like it that we have tied a house brick to each leg before letting her out............not that she was out very long. :P

The hound thinks the wind is something attacking her and was rushing around the garden jumping and twisting.

I have recovered our heavy duty rotary clothes line from the meadow behind the cottage and made sure that everything I tied down is still secure.

Parts of the coast road have been closed due to the high winds and (I assume) stones being thrown across the road.

The reports say it is going to go quiet later, but come back again tomorrow , as the "other side" of the depression passes through.

Thats something to look forward to.

Pfff sounds like a normal breeze that we get up here!

The MET office is showing gusts of 72mph in cornwall, a little breezy, but nothing much compared to the 102.3mph average we got last march, or the 103.5mph gust we got in feb.

Enjoy yourselfs, tie down the wheelie bins!

Don't forget to add photos of the devastation!

That's what I was thinking. We had 100mph winds just a couple of weeks back that didn't warrant much of a mention and now that England has mere 80mph gusts the media goes into some kind of frenzy. Imagine if you had some snow with it..........
