Mornings or Afternoons ?

I have a spare half-day to use up before the end of this month, and thought I would book the time off to do some decoying on local rape. I would be very interested to see whether PW members think that a morning raid - say from 7-11.30 would be better than an afternoon from 2-5.30....Thank you very much.

my permission is split into about 5 areas some are productive in the morning some in the afternoon, will depend on what's about and flight lines/weather etc

That's my usual plan of attack, find where they are in the morning. Bang away until it dries up, then go find where they've got to in the afternoon and have another go.

Last year in March I was shooting pigeons right up to an hour before dark , but this season there seems a strong trend towards morning feeding . I find most activity stops by early afternoon though there the odd days when the pigeons would move later.

i agree, i have been out an about on the quad doing some recconassiance and have found that early in the morning they really go for it seem to be really active, and then in the afternoon, they are less eager to feed! i was on a field all set up arounf 7.30 and was bagging them then! but it all depends on weather?
