desblade
should get my fac licecne for .22 rifle to shoot rabbts looking about different .22 (rim fire) but not sure which one to buy ( second hand), semmi, auto bolt, lever? advice would be great
Baldrick
Get a bolt-action. More accurate than a semi-auto (in my opinion), and there'll be no ammunition cycling problems. You can pick up a CZ .22 for a pittance. Stick a SAK mod on the end and the best scope you can afford, and you're sorted. bob300w
should get my fac licecne for .22 rifle to shoot rabbtslooking about different .22 (rim fire) but not sure which one to buy ( second hand), semmi, auto bolt, lever? advice would be great S/h or new depends on your budget, but new 22 rifles are not that expensive compared to shotguns. If you really want to enjoy your rabbit shooting, buy a Ruger 10/22, described many times as "the most fun that you can have with your clothes on". The 10/22 is the most popular 22 in the states and the UK, have a play with one and you will see why, also the after market of add-ons is massive. They are reliable, the action and rotary magazine handle any ammunition, and will last a lifetime, I have put over 8,000 rounds through mine with no care other than routine cleaning. The heavy barrelled 10/22's will outshoot most, if not all, lower-end bolt action rifles, you don't need a moderator for rabbits, they rarely run in at the sound of a shot, even with a 223, but get the best scope that you can afford, you should spend at least as much on a scope as you do on a gun, you can't shoot it if can't see it. Give Viking Arms a ring and ask them to send you a catalogue before you decide.

njc110381
Get yourself a bolt action CZ 452, preferably a screwcut 16" barrel model, and a SAK moderator (so put +Moderator on the application). Then spend whatever you have left on a scope, which ideally should be at least £100-£150. Edited May 16, 2008 by njc110381
Glynn
HI i agree go for a cz but have a look at the cz 453 they have a very nice 2 stage adjustable trigger. Go for the .22lr with sound mod when using subsonic rounds the bunnies wont know whats hit them. I think bolt actions are quieter more accurate and have better reliability. Also try looking at a 17hmr for distance shots although they are louder. Again as njc said get a desent scope. Good luck
fallowbuck
Rugers and CZ'S are good and great fun especially the Ruger. However, if you want top accuracy out of a box and have a little extra cash get an Anshutz, they are the "Dogs B---cks". I always regret selling mine! I would regularily kill rabbits at 100yds and beyond. Great guns
plinker
for shooting rabbits is has to be bolt action , as for the 10/22 for shooting rabbits, reliable is not a word i would use, also accurate is another word not usually associated with them, they can be fun but the bolt action rifle with a sound mod will defo put more bunnies in the bag. tjdwillis
no need for a semi-auto. i agree with a cz .22lr, sak mod, and spend the rest on a half decent scope.
