reedbradshaw
cabinet sorted, just waiting for the FAO to come check it. its fixed by 4.no screws in to the external block work secured by wall plugs. The cabinet IS secure and i cant pull it off! theres no gaps between any of the sides of the cabinet & the wall. The wall what it is fixed to is in a upstairs bedroom inside a fitted wardrobe. The house is privatly owned and is alarmed and locked at ALL times when not occupied and at night. do you think the FAO will see any problems with this or is this just what hes looking for ? mr lee
I fixed mine in with some sturdy wall anchors/bolts. Straight into the brick wall. he never tried to pull it or anything either. Just had a quick look to check it was firmly secured to the wall. One thing to note is when he does want to look inside, have the keys in your pocket ready and not in a nearby drawer or on the table etc. Don't be afraid to ask him questions either. They are there to advise and help you to get everything done properly. I asked about fitting a lock to the cupboard where my safe is located and he said don't bother as it could draw more suspicion to something of value being in there. Just to hang a few shooting jackets etc over the safe if I was worried about someone seeing it.

allthegearandnoidea
When they tested mine once the guy put both feet on the wall and treid to pull the thing off. Thankfully he didn't but some will try their hardest!

Mum wont be happy with footprints on the wall !!! ive had a look at the code and it states something like "must be securly secured" and preferably "out of site" and "somewhere to frustrate attack"

reedbradshaw
i hope my FAO will be ok, i know 2 people who have anchored their cabinets to the wall the same as me and one of those is a RFD ! ive heard the FAO from Derbyshire Police is a top bloke... looking forward to him coming
mr lee
I needed my passport and driving license to show him as well. jase. Mine didn't ask for those. Odd how in different areas they ask or feel the need to do different things. Mine did check the security of the house though. Made sure all the door locks were 5 lever mortice ones and access through the garage was improved. Fortunately it is significantly improved due to owning bikes a while back. More I think about it, he even advised me to etch on the keys T and B for the locks as it made it easier to see which was which when opening the cabinet in future. When he moved there was dog saliva all over his forms. :yp:
Axe
I used 6 Shield Anchor Bolts into an internal brick wall. On my inspection the FEO hung from the door and tugged at the inside top edge. Needless to say, the safe didnt budge.

dustyfox
Rawl(type) plugs won`t do, I believe it has to be bolts, unless the cabinets are screwed to joists. Mr D I have anchored my cabinet with RAWL bolts would the FAO ask what type of bolt you have used? or is there something wrong with them? thanks DF

Rawl plugs are generally for screws. the red or brown plastic inserts to push into the wall for running a screw into. Rawl bolts are as they say, Bolts. weejase
I used 6 120mm coach screws with plugs to secure mines. My walls are made of hardcore so trying to get a straight hole was a nightmare My wall ended up looking like a firing squad had been there
