Mungler
Okay, so I am looking for a .17 HMR. I have previously spent a bundle on a semi auto .22 and found that it was no better than a tricked up 10/22 that was a quarter of the price. For the HMR my only requirements are: 1. a synthetic stock and 2. a short barrel (which is screw cut). CZ, Bruno and Savage Arms appear in the sub £350 brand new category. What's the word? garyb
You could spend a fortune Mung... and none of them would shoot better (much) than a CZ tbh... Might need a trigger kit mind..

steve b
cz is the way forward mate, deadly accurate, cheap and very reliable. I have a cz style synthetic with nickel barrel and it is a great gun for the money. You will not be disappointed. steve b
deadeye ive
Try my CZ varmint at bisley andy .............It'll be at first sight £265 new and thats with a lapped barrel
Teal
I have the CZ and I really recommend it, I have no experience of the other two, although I have heard decent things about the savage. The cz is a super little rifle, a joy to shoot, make sure you put some decent glass on it to do it justice. How cz do them so cheap I am not sure. al4x
get a cut down 16" CZ varmint with trigger job and sak mod and you'll have a cheap set up that shoots rather well. I'd stick with the wood rather than synthetic and if you look about a bit some do come with rather nice wood. On the other hand some don't
