I have tried using an Eagle Owl decoy but did not get any results. The crows vitually ignored it. I placed it on a fence post. I am now going to try and place the decoy high into a tree and see if that works. Perhap's that will make the difference,

I had the same results - bought an eagle owl decoy and expected some fast and furious action.

Only thing that came within range were seagulls.

Never tried it up a tree though

I think he's using a stuffed owl - now where can I get one?

Whenever I use my owl decoy I put it on the ground with a dead pigeon at it's feet with a few feathers scattered around.

The last time I used it I shot 14 crows.

I would have thought that a dead crow would work even better.

You have to make sure that you have a superb hide - with topcover if you can.

It looks like yer man's set his up to look like it's captured a crow.

Why do crows attack it because it's a bird of prey? Surely they'd be scared of it?

He's also got a good video on getting the breast meat off a pigeon.

It's in Norwegian but he definitely says "stick your thumbs" under the breast bone.

As above, the idea is that they try to mob the Owl.. exactly like they do with Buzzards!!

Infact, I'd imagine a buzzard would also do the trick, you do find these quite often sometimes knocked over at the side of the road B)

Great vid, thanks for sharing :(

Now to get me a life like decoy :good:

Don't know about on the road but at this time of year there's plenty lying about the 'iron road'.A lot of the young ones get clobbered by trains as they feed on road kill.

I'd never thought of using real dead ones before,as the plastic one's just don't seem to work.

I'm sorry to say, but that's an awful way to get the breast off a pigeon. Try this:

Just break the wings off and cut the belly and split.

Aye but most recipes use the breast meat so you then have to take the crowned

breast home and take the meat off, ie couple of minutes per bird.

If you do it your mans way it's one step and you can big the breasts in the

field.
