steve_b_wales
If it's just for rabbit's, then I would get a .22 rimfire. With this caliber, you can use sub-sonic ammo (used with a moderator it's very quiet) and you can also use high or hyper velocity ammo, such as stingers or lasers. You have the best of both worlds. You could also use a .17HMR for rabbits etc at further distances, but you will always here the gun firing. Depending on your police force, you may not be granted an FAC for centrefire rifles because it's your first application, and you may not be experienced enough. Hope this helps. rarms
For that range, FAC air. No worries about ricochet or anything silly like that.
bobt
But a FAC air rifle will cost 3 times the price of a rimfire, without any of the versatility of a choice of ammo.
Newsportshooter
Either way ...... Ask for .17HMR and .22lr when you apply for your FAC - no matter what you go for first. Most FEOs will allow both and the two calibres give you the option for versitility.. Both have exceptional and contrasting qualities

Second hand FAC air rifles can be had for good prices, here is a current advert on another site for £300 including scope and charging gear LINK Edited April 2, 2009 by rarms
bruno22rf
As bobt says-a decent used rimfire with a scope will be far cheaper than an air rifle and ,dare i say, a whole lot easier to shoot-its rare to come across a worn out rimmy and something like the cz 452 is simplicity itself.Again taking the cz as an example-it will bowl over bunnies at 100 yards (if correctly zeroed) all day and ammo is very reasonably priced. With sub-sonic rounds and a silencer fitted these rifles are almost completley silent but still deadly at the ranges you are discussing.Only downside against an FAC airgun is that shooting up into trees is a huge no-no with a rimmy whereas it is sometimes possible with the puffgun.
