catcherpelt
Sorry I have not made it very clear. We have made the high seats safe and there is no danger of them falling, but if someone from the public was to climb up and fall and because of health and safely the problems we have with compensation claims we don't want any comebacks with personal injury liabilities so we need to put up some kind of signage, are there any existing signs with the correct wording available. sorry about any confusion Ian
John_R
How about chaining a wide plank to the ladder so it cannot be scaled whilst no-one is about?

Loki
Hiya I would suggest that you give the BASC a call or peruse their website - their legal people are sure to know what is required. Or you could ask their man David? on the Forum - he should be able to direct you. Perhaps a call to the Forestry Commission or equivalent and chatter with one of their people/Rangers? Just some thoughts. Regards
Cranfield
I would have thought that any signage broadcasting the fact that there are high seats located in the area, is just asking for theft or vandalism. I would either post nothing, or something like, "Keep Out, private shooting at all times, live ammunition used". Perhaps you could put a small notice on the High Seat, "falling off this will damage your health". BASC is your best bet.
Bleeh
Just put ''Structure unstable, do not climb'' I mean, you know the unstable bit is a lie, but hey, it covers you for both if it falls apart or someone falls off!

MPT1
IT'S YOUR LEGAL OBLIGATION TO PREVENT ACCESS, SO FIXING AN OBSTACLE IS THE WAY. ANY SIGN STATING THAT IT'S DANGEROUS IS ACCEPTING LIABILITY. FOR INSTANCE IF YOU HAVE A DANGEROUS DOG SIGN UP AND THE DOG BITES YOU HAVE ALREADY ADMITTED LIABILITY AND FAILED IN YOUR "DUTY OF CARE" TO PROTECT. al4x
MPT1 is correct any sign stating something may be dangerous is an admission of liability, ridiculous but there you go. best option is no signs nad make them as well hidden as possible and make them secure and difficult to climb whether by a cover over the rungs or having a section of ladder that you take away etc
Baldrick
Am I the only person that uses lightweight folding seats? We gave up with static seats earlier this year after yet another visit by opportunistic thieves/******. I just use a BushWear 'Panther' seat and a larger version from Reeves. They were not cheap, but they live happily and securely in a 4x4, and don't get nicked. We also built a platform overlooking the main ride in a block of woodland, which can only be accessed by a detachable 12' ladder.
Supersonic
Just put a sign on the floor saying "serves you right!" Nige
jimthefish
The signs that have been put up at the mo reads warning notice no unauthorised persons allow to use high seat admission of liability as posted by MPT1 makes sence. Placing a blank of wood is also a good idea but noisey when removing, I will contact BASC for advice Many thanks to all for your help Ian
Stealth Stalker
Do what I've done mate rip an 8' x 4' sheet of ply wide enough to fit in side the rung supports, drill 2 holes through the ply either side of one rung, then chain it all up around the tree. no one can climb up it or have it away I admit it is a bit noisy undoing it all, but atleast you have piece of mind. Anyhow the way you go clattering around you'll have scared the deer off before you get to the seat  SS
