aubs
Hi My boss has just offered me a load of cash to by a new motor (lucky me). It has to be a commercial vehicle so I thought of a crew cab so I can make a right mess in the back with the dogs and shooting stuff etc but still the front stays clean (no more dog smell in the car, apart from me) Has anyone got one and what do you think of it. Any comments would be grateful good or bad. cheers Aubs
ernyha
Aubs my son in law has got the Mitsubishi L200 which he uses as his business vehicle and also for his shooting, towing etc. I have borrowed it a couple of times and find it a great all rounder. Here is a pic. of one and I will quickly add that I chose it at random and have no connection with the company. http://www.freewayvehicles.co.uk/l200.htm
dodeer
Mitsubishi L200 or the Nissan Narvara.
Browning
Aubs, I have an L200 and can't fault it. Great for carrying all the **** that you take when shooting, great for a couple of wet & muddy dogs, and still great for taking the "Mrs" out for dinner as the front stays nice and clean. I decided to get mine after looking around for 6 months and talking to lots of 4 x 4 owners, and the L200 just came out above the Navara (in my personal poll !) as a good all rounder. PM me if you want to know any specifics. Good Luck.

aubs
Thanks for the replies guys it's certainly given me something to think about. I recon I've got about 15 - 20 grand to spend so i can surely get something decent. I thought about the L200 but my mate gets his brand new warrior this week and I want something different. The navara looks nice but i just looked on the link from ernyha and the toyota looks fantastic just a bit worried about the 3L engine a bit of a guzzler I think. Anyhow I'm going to have a look round tommorow so thanks again for the posts Cheers Aubs

old rooster
Whatever else you do don't touch Rover unless you have a very large maintenance budget and don't mind the vehicle being off the road (that's not "off road") more than its on. plinker
hilux is pretty indistructable i can,t break mine.l200 and nirvana are good also.ford don,t make the ranger it is a mazda with a ford badge they are a bit cheaper than the others but you get what you pay for.if you are buying a four door pick up for your business be aware that the tax breaks on these are about to change (according to my accountant anway). plinker. fullbore
I suppose I might be a bit late with this reply, and you may have bought your pick up, but here goes anyway. I saw a black Mitsubishi Warrior and fell in love with it. So, being a tight Yorkshireman, I then set about my research. Read all the mags, talked to people. From what I discovered, the Mitsubishi range is not reliable, has a low service interval and is less powerful and carrys and tows less weight than the Nissan. It is also thirstier than the Nissan I have been running a Nissan since last september, whenI bought a new one. I still prefer the looks of the warrior but the Nissan is a great tool, family car, works van (I'm a welder fabricator so carry and tow steel and gates and railings etc, and a shootin bus, great for lamping out of the pick up back, Im going to make a swivel seat with lamps that goes in the back body! my only gripe is that for someone of my height, 6 foot, there is no room behind the drivers seat for a grown up passenger. Nissan are bringing out a new model in August 05 bigger all round and more luxurious. The Nissan is popular with the farmers round here, if they have a truck it seems to be a Nissan, and a couple of mechanic I know run them including one who has a recovery firm. Hope that helps
Staffs-Shooter
We have a number of double cabs and by far the best is the Toyota Hilux (old shape). The Mits is serviced at 6k now (was 4.5!) & rides like a van. The Navarra is good but still a tad bumpy. The Toyota rides like a car albiet a tad slower. We have 3 Toyotas, 2*2.5l manual & 1*3.0 auto. The 3.0l is fantastic. Looking at the newer version it is vastly over priced (22k v 18k ish). I saw the new nissan the other day & its very American, as is the Toyota. Incidentally we always buy imports - much cheaper, as reliable & fair residuals. FM We buy with a Pan European 3 yr warranty & tend to use the supplying dealer for servicing. I have had warranty work done on a Nissan at a "UK" Dealer & it was no major bother - apart from the fact he "lost" the vehicle  but thats another story. lurcherboy
Check out the steering on your proposed 4x4 before commiting yourself. Some have the turning circle of a oil tanker LB
