adam1
Im looking for a semi auto 12 bore multi choke and am tempted tempted by the hatsan but would like a few views on a couple of other options that ive not heard so many opinions on the remmington 1100 / 1187, the winchester 1400 / 1500, the baikal as second hand options, i have them all in a reasonable traveling distance from me. I know some will say stay clear of the hatsan but am just looking for info on the above guns. Thanks
andy33
HI, there's much discussion on the Escort, its a bit like marmite love it hate it, i would say try it. I have an older Browning B80 which i believe were made by Baretta and to be honest i find it fantastic for 300 quid never misses a beat but i also recently purchased an Escort in synthetic had no use at all and is more than adequate for pigeon/crow shooting. The build quality isnt as good and i'd be suprised if it lasted as long as the b80 but what value. As ever it depends on how much you can spend and what you want the gun for, but as a cheap rough gun for general use i would say the Escort isnt bad value for money. I paid 230 for mine in mint condition. Regards Andy.
LostWomble
Get a Beretta you can't get better
Springer222
If funds are limited the Hatsan escort, I've got the 3in version and can't fault it, an excellent all rounder. If funds are unlimited then get a Beretta, they're superb.
Glensman
I'd give my left nut for an Xtrema 2!
al4x
I'm another with a B80 thats stood the test of time and seen one hell of a lot of action. Look in the for sale section here and see how many people are trying to shift nearly new hatstands and you'll see that despite everything they obviously aren't that good. They've had issues from the start and though most have been sorted out only time will tell how they last,
davecooper1
Beretta everytime, if you can afford one.
peter-peter
Beretta the best there is. but the new hatsans now seem to have had the problems sorted. perhaps down to pigeon watch. I now have 3 mates with the latest model and they seem to be working fine. as I have posted in the past. 3 years ago I bought 2 and was not at best pleased 1 of them was brand new it lasted 3 weeks. lets hope those days are now behind us. after all they are a cracking gun to shoot. but its still the good old beretta for me
derek.snr
i shoot a 391 ,the lad a hatsan ,great value the hatsan ,no problems with it ,the 391 is better built and smoother ,seen them on here for 600 hatsans 225-250 if you have the cash berretta every time

Condor
Beretta every time - even if funds are limited, you can buy a 303, say, in good used cond for less than a new Escort!!! No contest in my opinion, but you pays your money you takes your pick...... For me, Beretta forever!!!!!!
Dave-Maximus
Ye you can't beat the Berretta's. I used to shoot with a Fabarm Euro Lion it jammed on me a few times when using lighter loads, but I now use my AL 391 Urika it cycles everything. poontang
ive not heard so many opinions on the remmington 1100 / 1187, the winchester 1400 / 1500, the baikal second hand options, am just looking for info on the above guns. Thanks Adam, I've got a Remington 1100 Sporting 12 and i have to say it's a great gun. Keep it clean and look after it and it'll look after you. Keep a few spare 'O' rings handy as they can break with wear, but only a few pence each so no real problem. Very soft shooting gun, though fairly heavy!! Mine will cycle 24gm/28gm no probs though a bit fussy with 21gm. If you want to shoot clays it's a VERY capable gun. Will take pigeon loads no probs but if you want to put heavier loads through it go for the 11-87 with a 3" chamber, or the 11-87 Wildfowler 3 1/2" chamber for really big bangs!! adam1
Okay I know some of you are going to bang your heads against the wall but i returned home with the Escort, I have listened to your opinnions, not only on this thread but others and other forums too, and i also know a couple of lads that have owned them, I have tried to take a balanced view of everyones opinnion and would like to thank you all for your input especially niloticus1 who went out of his way to be helpful. The main reason s for my decision are the warranty (I can here some of you now muttering I'll be using it ) but most importantly the gun seemed to just drop into my shoulder, nobody can dispute thats the right reason to pick a shotgun, the advertising men would call it synergy, probably more like a bit of luck really. Its true if I had had more coffers in the pot I may have wound up with something else but the simple fact is that i was already streching the limited budget and from the guns i tried it was the best fit with a couple of the stock spacers in place. Did I make a good decision? only time will tell once I have had chance to form an experienced opinnion be it good or bad I will let you know. Thanks again for your time. mr salt
good luck with the gun,if it fits that is important. i must say i can see why you brought it, i looked at a early model escort and the stoeger 2000. i nearly got the stoeger ,but in the end i came home with a lighty used berretta 391. enjoy it ,i think its a copy of a remmington 1100. (i may be wrong but it looked like one to me) cheers scott Edited August 16, 2009 by mr salt
sid the sniper
Does anyone know what an extrema cycles clay cartridges like?
Glensman
Goin by the videos of it on YouTube and a couple of reviews I read that gun'll cycle Anything... It'd want to as well for the price!
Robalex
Does anyone know what an extrema cycles clay cartridges like? I shoot an Extrema and could not be happier with it's performance. However I did try 24gm cartridges once to see how it would perform. Just as well there was nothing at stake because it failed several times to recycle and jammed. After subsequent investigation I learned that 28gm (at least) shells were the way to go and had no further trouble. The Extrema 2 has received rave reviews and is considered to be a step up from original Extrema so it must be good. Perhaps others on the forum could explain how well the Extrema 2 performs.
