new to the flock
Anyone have a fix for a Trogan/spy Smitfraud.c
Riothedog
If this is on your computer then may I recommend Spysweeper and Symantec antivirus software. When you lose your data, you realise that it was going to have been worth the money. Keep well and virus free RTD
Cranfield
You should be able to remove it with AdAware (free spyware remover) however, if its dug in and corrupted any files, this may help; http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=75890
dazza
or this http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/s...re/default.mspx or if anti spyware doesn't work Download http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/FixO.exe FixO.exe will create a new folder. Search for that folder via task manager, and then run FixO.bat. :(

dazza
Is there a 'FixO MS DOS batch file' in the folder when you open it?
Jonnyni
Anyone have a fix for a Trogan/spy Smitfraud.c Find out where the file is and then go into SAFEMODE follow the path to the directory where the file is and delete it. You will probably have to go into your 'C' drive and change the setting to VIEW ALL FILES AND FOLDERS. The best thing to do at a time like this is backup all programs/work/mps/movies etc etc etc etc and REFORMAT your 'C' drive (reinstall windows). THIS WILL REMOVE ALL VIRUSES/TROGANS/ etc etc. The only downside is you will have to reinstall ALL your programs but it will speed up your PC noticably. Hopefully you have partitioned your HARDDRIVE into at least 2 segments i.e. 'C' drive and 'D' drive. This way you have all you program files on 'C' drive and can reinstall windows over the top of that drive leaving your 'D' drive with all your personal stuff alone. Good luck. jim_whitson
If you want to stop any more ****e from getting onto your PC, then you could do worse than installing firefox. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ It's free and much better than crappy IE. :(
new to the flock
Okay got it useing Ad Ware Personal edition... a free download.....off my system it took 193 trojans, worms, hijackers, trackers and what ever else is out there. The scary thing is I use two other anti virus programs daily, AVG and Spybot Search.
Dexon
My advice would be to install a good antivirus package. The zonelabs package security suite www.zonelabs.com seems to be the best value. Includes an excellent firewall also. I know its not nice parting with our money but the time and effort it will save you its worth it Dexon
