  10. Well simply though maybe they wont breed if they are all shot down south ? Why urge restraint not to shoot till November / December then - and not do so based on locality ? No i think you are wrong If we are "following the science" and that urges us not to shoot till November/December - then a season change would be a good idea. We cant keep telling people we are following the science then totally ignoring it at the next juncture , surely ? Or maybe we can
  11. £15 deliverd size XL
  12. I imagine the company is very profitable until the end of the year when they have to repay some sort of “loan” or “rent” to a company also owned by themselves, based on an island somewhere that’s a tax haven. The big company declares a loss. The off shore company another record profit and pays an insignificant amount of tax to that haven. All above board chap, nothing to see here, move along and say nothing! 👀
  13. I always think we (collectively) are over insured as a Nation. I have the minimum insurance I can get away with.
  14. In the ‘ideal world’ which we don’t live in, our guns should cost peanuts to ensure against house burglaries - as they are kept in a police approved locked safe. However insurance companies will inflate premiums wherever they can, using whichever excuse they can invent. Insurance is often little more than a system of modern legalised extortion. Rant over.
  15. I think half of your problem is that at least 95% of shooters today have never used/have no idea how to use a double trigger.
  16. Auto glass and Auto Windscreens depending on your insurance company. I must be approaching double figures on the number of windscreen repairs/replacements I have had in the last 35 years, and never a one before that. I once rang my insurer’s recommended company and they were quoting over a week before they could get to me. So I rang the other major company and had a new screen fitted within the hour. The insurance were not pleased but eventually agreed to pay up (NFU).
  17. Jerusalem sage there is a decent app called PictureThis available, just make sure you look for the very light coloured cancel options on the pop ups
  18. This is one of my favourite shrubs for attracting bees and butterflies.
  19. 👆👆👆👆💯% ... ye would be crazy to suggest a change in the season.. as this is in uk I'm not going to scribe page's about this subject. But we have a similar situation here in Ireland. All I will say it's a delicate, difficult situation. Because they ( antis, powers that be, government, we have a minister in charge of such things that is a out and out anti) are using statistics from fresh air on resident birds, and how much of a threat they are in. Even though they really have no idea good or bad. And are trying any way possible to curtail, stop, remove woodcock from list because of this. And seem oblivious to the fact that a ocean of woodcock arrive here in winter. Just a another hammer to try and give us sportsmen a blow. We are lucky that the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REGIONAL GAME COUNCILS had the foresight to commission , a number of years ago ,a Dr James o neill To conduct surveys, ringing, putting satellite tags, etc, etc , on the resident population and migrants in wintertime. Our government would have removed the woodcock from list only for this.. absolutely crazy!!
  20. The BIG problem is, a lot of Insurance companies use Autoglass and nobody else. I think Autoglass cash in on this monopoly, probably another reason for high car insurance prices. A lot of loose stones lying around on the roads, having come from the ever increasing number of potholes.
  21. We have covered the use of the rotary loads and loads of times and we know fully well there is not a 100% sure way of using it to the full effect , in fact the last few years when I have used one it have often created a shot but I cannot remember when a pigeon last came into the decoys with the rotary running . Once the crops were harvested last Summer I never took out the rotary once , how nice it was to put out a decent set of decoys with maybe two floaters well out and each side of the decoy pattern , not every time but for a lot of the times you see a Pigeon well out , they see your decoys and come in like the days of the past , no jinking , or taking evasive action when they a 60 or so yards out , I agree that some of them might be young ones but old ones can still be fooled by decent decoys , while the rotary do work on certain days then everyone will still use one hopping it is the perfect day , with them now been out a good number of years , the problem is no one still don't know what the perfect day is until the day is in progress , or the day is over .
