  1. Just had a look at this place on the interweb - Just outside Chelmsford and offering indoor and outdoor ranges as well as rough shooting over 500 acres. Has anyone on here got any personal experience/opinions of the place? I notice they don't mention prices on the webpage. Answers on a postcard please......
  2. well he had to do something when the next single flopped!!
  3. Cheers fella - Will give that a try. Is it commercially available or gunshops only?
  4. Just taken all the lacquer off my Lanber and want to give it a nice finish (The lacquer prompted more than one person to ask me if the stock was plastic!). The popular choice on here seems to be to rub in oil and then give a wax finish at the end. Can anyone recommend which brands to use please or offer any tips or tricks? Many thanks, Matt
  5. That's definitely one of my problems - Instinctive shooting works lovely, thinking about it doesn't.
  6. Well i shot at Hawley at the weekend and me gun broke on the first clay - Firing pin was shy and didn't want to come out!! The ground very kindly lent me a gun to finish the round and managed a p**s poor 52/100. Can't even blame it on the borrowed gun 'cos i was getting 5's and 6's on most of the stands which proves i can hit them, but just not consistently. I think achieving a consistent score is where the true standard lies. Oh well, keep practising i s'pose
  7. Very spicy bloody mary or a bullshot - Get realcoholised gently and the hangover will ease off nicely - Have a glass of water between drinks and your body will adjust itself.
  8. Did the boresighter give a good grouping?
  9. It's in me diary - See you there! Anybody else???
  10. Might give it another go on Sunday then - I do generally get there earlyish, but usually on a Saturday for practice. There's often a glut of more senior shooters who can occasionally take a little longer to shoot.
  11. Is this one still on for 20/9?
  12. Not doing JJ's down in any way - It's a good, very friendly ground and probably the cheapest in the area - Only trouble is, that as a consequence, it can take you ages to get round (It took me nearly 3 hours to shoot 70 a month ago - mind you, it takes me ages to reload). There are other options in the area - Dartford (www.dartcsc.co.uk/), Hawley (www.hawleycsg.co.uk) or behind the Robin Hood pub at Bluebell Hill - No website, but they shoot alternate Sundays until 12.00 pm.
  13. Spanish inquisition springs to mind (Please insert your own Monty Python joke here) - Religious extremism taken too far by a bunch of nutters whipping up the faithful. God help us if they ever get truly organised.
  14. Bump - Come on chaps, this is pigeon pride we're talkin' bout here!!!! Click that button and let's get 'em the prize

  16. Evilv - You just said it so much better than i did!!
  17. "I bought my first house & had to really stretch myself (come to think of it i have every time I've moved)." I think that's the trouble - When i bought my first house in '91, we got to see loads of repos that had come on to the market, caused by the first big crash. At that time, i was offered 5 x my personal salary, but chose not to go that far. Bought my 2nd house in a rather more buoyant market 6 years later which subsequently capitalised enough (Being based about 1/2 a mile from the 2012 Olympics site) to let me upgrade to my current house without too much financial pain. We are now looking for somewhere bigger and just starting to see some serious haggling going on, plus....laods more repossessions coming on to the market. Interestingly enough, a lot of the repos seem to be from building firms/small developers who have bought them to convert and turn a quick buck, but have run out of money half way through - Just wish i was a bit handier with a trowel!!
  18. Tosspot - Have changed my image now - This'll be me in the car park - I'll stand by the trees so you don't miss me.
  19. Should be OK - Is it a leccy one or one of the stove top jobbies with several tiers? We've got the stove top one and the're excellent for veg, fish and chicken. As far as a suet pud goes, i think it's one of those occassions where applying rapid radiation via the microwave saves a lot of time and effort, without detracting from the taste or texture too badly.
  20. Regarding the police record - Was it a legit one or did you buy a bootleg copy from a bloke in the pub?? Just as an aside, how comes it's always oriental chaps that come up to you in the pub with the line "Divvidee, divvidee"?
  21. Went to Hawley CSG today and got a magnificent 39 out of 70 - I'm about as consistent as porridge!
  22. I'm still up for it - Should be easy to spot Nigel Havers, Chris Martin, Richard Ashcroft and Graham Norton in the car park
  23. Ideal for silverskin onions at cocktail parties
  24. Suzy - What doesn't hurt you only makes you stronger - Drink heartily and enjoy!! Sherry's made out of grapes, so it must be part of your 5 a day - 5 large glasses and you're sorted!!
  25. I could only manage to vote once - Wouldn't let me do it again!! Come on chaps and chapettes - They are 1 only vote behind the leaders at the moment!!
