I have home made hypers that are toned down a bit more and that what i use to start the day. but you cant beat real birds. hehe... Phil.

Who's Got The Vermin Condition On There FAC ?
activeviii replied to Bazooka Joe's topic in General Shooting Matters
I did have a problem with vermin for shooting canada's last month so a phone call to sort it didnt work as i was told their out of season. i soon put that right and pointed then in the right direction so they could get the right fact. then they siad i couldnt shot with a rifle as there not vermin. so i asked then to define the word 'vermin'. i spoke to SACS and he say i did right and to fill my boots as they are in the wrong. if i get a problem then he will back me up. i have vermin on all my rifles by the way. -
i would get a new mot done and then go back to him and ask for the things to be put right. if its a 2.8 the watch the fuel pump. if the motor cuts out just after you get off up the road on a morning then point a finger at the fuel pump seal. only cost £5 for parts but it will set you back £150-£200 to get it fixed. oil, filters every 6mnths and you'll be ok. go to milners for filter and that. i had a service done at mitzy as i needed a fault code cleared and they said they would do in with the service and i would only pay parts. £180 later i walked out with a sore ****. £26 plus £6P+P from milners. says it all really. oh mines shagged by the way. turbos blown, heaters gone and aircon dead. only bought last year from forecourt so again i was see coming. then i suck it in a ditch.lmao. need to sort it but its still running. Phil.

I met up with Mr Freke last wednesday's. Absolute diamond guy. knows his stuff with the dogs, is very easy going and above all else he is a guy that likes to help. Im going over this wednesday as well just to get the cocker back to where he should be with game and also help, if need be, to dog some of the birds back as well. I was a little worried about meeting the guys as you do hear about how hard some of the beat captains are and how the keepers can be stressed but this shoot seams different to other i have been on. it's all laid back, very friendly and welcoming. Mr freke also, even though he's a paying gun, he does the beating as well and doesn't shoot. If people re in the area and do want to have a Saturday out in very nice surroundings, with easy beating then please shout as soon as you can as i cant see places being left on this one once the word gets out. every other Saturday, i cant remember what date the first one is but guess i'll find out soon, plus there's a couple mid week over the xmas brake. thanks again for Mr Freke for allowing to on the shoot with a young dog. see you soon Phil.

nice work. i have had 8 so far but only taking ones and twos.......... mostly ones.lmao. how do you find them for eating. how do you cook them. i find them to tuff so end up legs and breast in the casserole dish for 3 hours on very low heat. i would be interested in other ways if it softens up the meat. Im out later for another go so with luck i will have one hung for Fridays pot. Phil.

I like to think that the rabbit is trying to work out where the shot came from. with a sub there is no echo so easy to work out but with a hmr you get an echo bouncing around. i get this when pigeon shooting. in open areas i shoot a pigeon and then ones out in the field fly away. but when im shooting on the side of a hill i get a bigger rapor and the sound bounces more. these pigeons fly off in all directions. this is with a shotgun mind and sometimes i think i think to much.

308 Varmint Bullets for Foxing
activeviii replied to garyb's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
sorry i shouldn't laugh but im p1ssing myself here. i cant see the screen for crying. lmao. I was watching a film last night 'Gamer' in the first 10 minutes of it there a guy stood at an exchange booth, he is swapping $5 bills. anyway there's a guy that gets shot or blown up and there blood splatter all over others guys face. I can see it now, charlie at 100 sat looking around and then some ****** with a junked up load squeezes the trigger on it. blood splatter at 100 yards anyone. Mr. Been with the exploding paint can comes to mind as well. *****,,,,,,, Phil -
Thats why i like this place, always someone giving away something for nothing and not wanting anything in return. Neil, bring them over and i'll knock you some sticks up for them. Phil.

i have been using them this year for decoyed pigeons, 7.5 28gr prima's. 30 and closer there fine but i switch to clear pigeon 30/32 of 6 for flightline, roost and black stuff. £142 at glos gun comp. only have them in plazy at the momnet so i will have a look at midland fair next week for fibre.

Is this the one for Shaun Freke. he was asking a short while ago for beaters and that. i have been in touch with him about the picking up and maybe one of my lads doing a bit of beating as well. PM me details please thanks Phil.
-
Ian, dont get the plain velco ones as the hair gets in them and they fall off, you want the plastic zip type. I had one last year for teague but he has out grown it so with the midland next week i will buy another. i like the breast plate as i dont like the thought of chest damage from trying to push though ice. I also use a wicking jacket for on the way home. it does just what it says and wicks the water out of the coat. Teague has no under coat so he shakes like and an summers toy once the temp starts to drop. after reading about some of the dogs collapsing from cold im not taking the risk with any of my cockers. all the best Phil.

I don't like walking in wellies so i use a pair of Columbia bugaboots and gaiters over the top. warm as toast when sitting in a hide and but wick away sweat when walking. is in the puddles and splashes then a pair of 10mm neoprene le chameau chest waders Phil

went out to sort a rifle problem out and on the way back we decided to stop where a few Canada's get. waited 5 minutes, took one of about 50 for the pot and then went home. nice and easy but i bet it will not be like that again, but it was a nice way to pay the gent back for his time on my rifle problem. thinking about popping out now for a look at a flight line the ducks follow to get to the river. they come low over a bank fast so can make some good sport. will see how i feel in half hour. Phil.

i did have a problem with the skinners maintenance 23 but it was more the dog went off it. i changed to the muesli mix and all is good again and has been for a fair while. i have the newer pup on skinners puppy and the older on keeps getting his head into that as well so im adding a handful into the muesli just because its coming t the start of season and i want the weight on the one for winter so the extra protein and oil will help, i hope. I had a problem with Eukanuba, my dogs stool was like water all the time so i got my money back for the over priced rubbish, same with the science plan junk. since speaking to a few people i have been happy with the skinners. the cockers work rate is very high and the food is working out for him so i'll stick with it. i did have one problem with some hide chews i bought , turned out they had a reddish colouring and flavour added to them, the older dog did go stupid in the head after a couple of them so i binned them. Phil.

you got any arms laying around please Phil

if you have you dog/dogs on a good balanced food you will know when something is not right. try giving one of them a handful of bakers or pedigree and than you will have your answer, bakers is a real eye opener but pedigree is just as bad.lmao. some may also notice that their dog /dogs will eat a sack of food with not problems then the next sack they may have a feed or two from and then turn their nose up at it. they haven't gone off the food as such but the new sack has a different make up of meat. i was told a while ago not to feed a dog were the sack sells it as a % of meat. look for food with % of one meat, like 'minimum of 30% chicken' reason is they might only get 10ton of beef and 3 ton of chicken on one delivery and then the next might be 5ton of pork, 3 of beef and 5 of chicken/turkey. so they still have 13 ton of meat but its different meats. this i was told by two different dog food manufacturers.
