  1. Re: Rabbits and getting the term "authorised" inserted in your letter. This is a throwback to the Ground Game Act 1880 which gives the occupier the right to shoot rabbits during the day and to authorise in writing one other person to do so. The person must be a member of the occupier's household, staff or employed for reward [keeping the carcasses classes as reward] Under the act, the following are allowed to shoot rabbits at night: An owner-occupier with shooting rights A landlord who has reserved his shooting rights A shooting tenant not in occupation who has derived his shooting rights from the owner An occupier or one other person authorised by him provided he has written authority from another person with shooting rights. So, deadeye - a rabbit shooting syndicate would be technically illegal. It must be borne in mind that these archaic laws date back to a time when rabbits were valuable and not considered to be as serious an agricultural pest as they are today. In reality, landowners will permit more than one person to shoot them, and I have never heard of anyone getting into trouble for it in recent history. (The above applies only to shooting and not to other methods of control.)
  2. Anyone for last orders?
  3. If you are planning to do a lot of rabbitting, then under the Ground Game laws, you are best if the word "xxxxxx is "appointed"" as opposed to "authorised" to shoot rabbits is in there somewhere.

You need to have the piccy at another location (such as your own website) and put its URL in the box (http button). Alternatively, use the pictures section and upload a JPEG into this. No more than 600 pixels wide though.
  5. Has anyone got "Pigeon Shooting" by Albert Mooney?

If it was the one I saw, it's going to need one hell of a lot of work to get it half decent. Thanks for showing me it, Paul.

  17. Our police force does have a leaflet. Ernyha - Your grandson can get a license without having a gun cabinet of his own. In any case, he is probably not old enough to have a gun in his possession anyway. The firearms officer will be told that the gun he will be using will belong to his Grandfather. Speak to your firearms officer - they will be able to advise. When our firearms officer called, he looked inside and saw the 1/2 inch bolts holding it on and that was enough!!! All things considered, it is better to have your precious guns secure regardless of what the police require.

Got an ex RAF Landrover 110 hardtop 300TDI in September, 90,000 on the clock and in excellent condition (those boys really know how to look after stuff). Unfortunatley, there was of course no radio, speakers or aerial. A sufficiently powerful CD player (purchsed from Ebay) was installed, along with a set of speakers. I put an folded back aerial (from an old Rover) on the roof, but managed to snap it off when reversing into a low archway. Neither were there any steps so I had to add these too, but got some from a mate who had spares. I put underbody sealer all over the chassis and have got a can of some anti-rust spray stuff a mate will spray inside the chassis section soon. The only problem is that the dealership resprayed part of one door and didn't realise RAF livery is a slightly different shade to Landy Blue! I also managed to get a full set of off-road Michelin tyres from a Government depot for between £10 and £25 each. One still had some pimples around the outside!
