Nothing, lazy civil Servants would rather rubber stamp an application than have to query it. They just default to the "what's easiest for me?" option irrespective of the needs of the country People have to realise, because they haven't yet, that the Civil Service is actually seriously out of control. Work shy doesn't even begin to describe the institutional laziness and apathy. And it's not only asylum, benefits claims get the same lack of scrutiny. My cousin, sadly now no longer with us, was a classic example. He was always capable of work. He had a bad back but no worse than mine. He just played the system He just applied and applied for every benefit going till he got it He had a car, he got attendance allowance for his wife and his wife got attendance allowance for him. Tax credits, and help with his bills. Both his daughters went through Uni without incurring student debt. In almost every instance I would say his entitlement was dubious but the lazy Civil Servants were happy to just rubber stamp the application so they could get on with their crossword and go home early

How do you think you can order a whole meal for six people from a shop ten minutes down the road and they are knocking on your door within half an hour? In actual fact, controversial as it may sound, the plight of the British agricultural workers was almost certainly worse than that of slaves. What ever the rights and wrongs of slavery may have been. The slaves themselves were extremely expensive. Simple economics meant they were an asset and were usually fed and housed pretty well by the standards of the time. Agricultural workers (and later factory workers) were of no individual value to the land owners. Nobody cared if they lived or died and had no legal redress no matter badly they were treated.

They are and magistrates are often told don't hand out any custodial sentences this week because we have no room for them. Even if the magistrates can hand out custodial sentences they know the offender will be let out ridiculously early and that is decided by some unaccountable Civil Servants answerable to nobody So really the legal system is a bit of a sham the Civil Service has the final say, not the judges and certainly not the magistrates. I also believe that a lot of people given community service orders are never called to serve them. This is because they have no work to give them and nobody to supervise them if they did.

It's no good talking about the death sentence. Juries today are too weak to find a person guilty, even if they are totally convinced he is, if they know he will get a death sentence They don't have the personal strength of character. It's a recognised fact that juries are getting weaker and many jurors won't find anybody guilty
