  1. I understand your reasoning toontastic but she must have earned more money during her 16 years on TV than the vast majority of people will see in their lifetime, I just think that to turn to her fans and "beg" for £50k is a little cheeky. Strangely enough she is a trained practitioner of Shamanic healing - an art that seeks to "quickly find the root of a problem and remove and release negative and toxic energy" - this, apparently, brings about the healing that we need. Come on then, let's see it at work.
  2. Oddly enough, after spending many years laughing at the thought of Big Cats roaming our countryside, I nearly ran one over near Aylesbury a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm not for one minute going to say it was a Panther or anything daft like it because it was far too small but it was way bigger than any Cat I have ever encountered - I would say about Cocker size but identical in every way to a domestic Moggy - I was so shocked that I had to pull over and regain my composure . Looking on the internet I found a report of a similar sighting not 3 miles away a few years back by our local Milkman.
  3. First of all let me just say that I am saddened by the news that anybody has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and I can only imagine the fear and pain they must be suffering. Leah Bracknell ( Zoe Tate from Emmerdale) has received just such news and it must be horrendous to try and come to terms with the situation, however, am I alone in thinking that asking her fans to donate funds (£50k) to allow her to undergo treatment in Germany, is a little "off"? Where has all the money gone from her 16 years on TV? What about all the other people suffering the same illness? I would think much more of her if she was raising funds for others but to use her fame to help herself? Just doesn't seem right to me but maybe I'm just a cynic?
  4. I'm sure that some were only supposed to fold completely if a button just behind the hinge was pushed fully in - but seen many where this seems to have worn and lets the barrels drop every time.
  5. Rang "Just Tyres" for a quote on Sat morning and was told £176 was the best they could do for a particular Tyre that I needed but suggested that I ring back if I got a cheaper quote elsewhere. Rang K-F in my local town and was told £144.99 and they had just one on the shelf. As the "Just Tyres" chap had been so polite and was slightly closer to me I rang him and told him about K-F 's price and he informed me that he would ring K-F to confirm and then beat the price. About 10 minutes later he called back to tell me that the chap I spoke to at K-F totally denied the price and quoted £176 (same as JT's) for the tyre and thus insinuated that I was a liar. To say that I was miffed is an understatement and I asked him to call them again to be certain, again the JT's chap received the same answer - £176.!! Feeling a bit cheeky I rang a different branch of K-F and was quoted £135. . Had the tyre fitted 20 minutes later for just that amount - bought a tyre from you guys at Kwik Fit but your really are a bunch of pancake flippers.
  6. "Caravans depreciate like stink" - agreed - and that's the time to buy one
  7. If they give you more confidence and thus hit more targets then they are worth their weight in Gold - but in reality you would need to use just one brand/type of cartridge, a pattern plate and a gunsmith with the time to polish each individual choke to actually gain any real benefit, but as already said, you still need to point the choke in the right direction to hit the target.
  8. If you find one for sale privately ( best value) then get a local mobile caravan mech. to give her the once over - wont cost much and could save you heaps, if the owner is not willing to let you do this then walk away. Make sure you get one with a mover - it will make little difference to the price but is expensive to have one fitted.
  9. Caravan insurance is easy to get - should be around £60/year depending on where you store your van and its value.
  10. Graham Brock has one in at £145.
  11. I would have kept quiet about this incident and replaced the items - then hidden a camera to watch over the grave - scum such as these will soon return and be caught on film. Waste of time involving the police - a few local's would soon sort the problem out.
  12. Don't see why the RFD would be responsible in any way - your postman is not responsible for stuff you have delivered.
  13. You have too much time on your hands . But contact me if you fancy a day's driven Bumble Bee's
  14. Wot silver pigeon69 said - that's the way I have always read the situation - if the seller "sells" to his RFD who then "sells" to your RFD - he then "sells" to you for the original price + whatever he charges then job's a goodun.
  15. I seem to recall that "just cartridges" bought the remaining Gamebore stock of BP cartridges a few years ago - they then sold them @ £25/box roughly.
  16. I agree that scelp barrels were perfectly serviceable - but a hundred years on and having been fed BP?? Scelp is not "sham dam" - sham dam is constructed by welding sheet steel lengthways then covering the result with a thin layer of genuine Damascus - scelp is a single twist of metal/s running the length of the tubes.
  17. Scelp type barrels and cartridges at approx. £25/box you might want to think very carefully before using her in anger
  18. I must be losing something in the translation TONY R - what's so difficult in buying 65mm cartridges?- there's hundreds to choose from.
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong but surely rebounding hammers come back away from the firing pin once released - non rebounding hammers remain in contact - making this a rebounding hammer gun?
  20. The underlever, fences and the fore end wedge would indicate an early gun yet the proof marks are 1954 onwards - the total lack of earlier marks would lead me to believe that the whole barrel/lump section has been replaced at some time. To go to such lengths would have been costly so I do not believe it impossible that the stock has also been replaced - I would like to think that this gun has meant a lot to a previous owner to have taken such measures to keep her alive - if only she could talk
  21. Doubt that the barrels were originally Damascus - should get a better idea by seeing the proof marks - I would put her somewhere around 1890 - 1910?
  22. Around half my guns are 65mm (2 1/2") TONY R and I am rather disappointed to learn that they are only good for hanging on my wall or tucking in the cabinet - going to miss using them most weekends.
  23. Would love to use my lr on the blighters but my winter Squirrel control is done in public recreational grounds that are actually open during the day while I am shooting - a .22lr buzzing around picnic tables would not go down too well, we have to stick to strict rules that define where shots can be taken and only sub 12ft/lb guns can be used - in fact we have to sign documentation agreeing with a long list of H&S issues that , if not strictly adhered to, instantly removes our permission.
  24. My lad works part time at our local chippy - he has just been told that he will be starting later each night and that a new employee is to take over his work during these hours - is this legal? - he's 17 and had no complaints about his work or conduct whatsoever?
  25. For clearance? - 3/8 is 9.5 mm so 10mm should do it.
