Bought the Scorpion with the squirrels in mind after head shooting several last year and finding them still conscious with the .177. The feeders are all in place and just waiting for the Warden to report that the Squirrels are on them - next couple of weeks I'm hoping.

One of the best sites is called "newsnow" - it seems to gather loads of ads from many different sites and put them together - saves loads of time.

With the average price for a good PCP now in the £600+ region I was wondering what kind of gun you could pick up for the price of a basic springer. Been hankering after a .22 Puffgun for a while now and ,rather than simply buying a new example, I decided to see how frugal I could be and how cheap people are willing to sell unwanted guns. With the new Laws north of the border this seemed the obvious place to start my search as many don't want to fork out the £70 odd for a licence if they only occasionally pot a few tins in the back garden. At the lower end pretty much the same guns are available - old Falcon's, Webley Raiders and the AGS weird thingy but many days searching the "For Sales" ads eventually threw up a likely candidate - BSA Scorpion complete with scope, mod and bag and , according to it's owner, only ever fired 20 shots. A few txts later and a deal was done - £220 including postage and the seller was happy to post the gun to me without any form of payment up front!! So 8:30 this morning a large box arrived and I spent nearly 10 frantic minutes opening the thing, How bad could it be? What can I honestly expect for around £200? ( virtually nothing according to my local dealer - not even a worn Turkish Delight) - but low and behold the last piece of cardboard is removed to reveal an immaculate gun - not a flipping mark on it - even still covered in protective grease from the factory, the bag held all the bit's, probe, user guide etc - I was like a dog with two tails . So I have just spent 15 minutes charging her up and zeroing - 5 shot one ragged hole at 25 yards and I'm , by now, giggling like a schoolgirl - the thing is soooo easy to shoot. Best couple of hundred notes I have spent in ages and I'm beginning to wonder if springers, unless you fancy a challenge, are going to become a thing of the past.

Am I right in thinking that you say it's the first pellet that's the flier each time? - points towards a friction issue to me - first shot creates heat that loosens everything up just that little bit - try cocking /uncocking the gun several times in quick succession before loading and firing your first shot and see if you still get a flier.

Never really wanted to sell that Stutzen but glad she is seeing some daylight and you seem to be enjoying her. Still get the odd call asking if she's still for sale!! Stunning gun that attracts attention and should be a good investment if you ever decide to sell her on - only ever seen one in a sale, real tatty but went for over £300 - daft but heyho.

May I suggest that you invest in a soft toed pair of shoes - sell this and you're going to spend a whole lot of time kicking yourself in years to come .

9 more posts since you "last post" on this thread Sir - are you a member of Status Quo by any chance

I think the whole Brexit theory about economic collapse is simply scaremongering - before we voted to leave Europe I used to put £50 in my car every week - I still put £50 in now - it hasn't gone up a penny.

Not the boy you should be banning but his father - if he owns a gun and has not taught the boy the dangers involved in handling firearms then he needs a good talking to - the boy can be taught easily, the real battle starts with the adult.

One of the all time greats - getting rare now so somebody is about to buy a real Gem. -
You are not allowed to search Travellers sites as it's "against their Human rights" - Thames Valley Police statement after the scum stole my Caravan.

We often have 4 people in our Van and a fixed bed is just not practical - as for setting up a bed taking the edge of the other half's carnal desires I'm a little concerned that you are not worth a 20 second wait besides there is normally plenty of countyside around where you can get wriggly - but avoid public footpaths as dog walkers can be surprisingly quiet as they approach

My advice would be to never buy another Gun from this chap - 70mm shells thru a 65 chamber is only going to end in tears - take a look when they recover your eyes from the surrounding bushes. -
Got an English Damascus barrelled 16 and a Tula Hammergun, both SxS and both sweet to shoot - gay confession time, they are both so pretty that sometimes I simply sit in the hide and stare at them.

If they are a serious problem and constantly affect your vision then you should seek help from your Hospital - they can be broken up by a laser quite easily. Ask for the most senior consultant as it's easy to damage your eye - be warned that it is an unusual feeling whilst being done - imagine someone flicking the back of your eye and you are about there.

I simply don't get the idea of a fixed bed - takes up too much room that could be used all day rather than for an evenings jiggy jiggy - the cushions on most seats are well thick - thicker than your mattress at home in most cases and well comfy. If a memory foam mattress and a palatial shower/bog are your idea of heaven then you need a Hotel and not a caravan-Glamping is only a TV and a Microwave away.

I'm with Vince - bought my Saab9-5 with 50k on the clock and she's now done just over 110k miles - only ever replaced 2 parts 1/ coil pack (vauxhall part) and 2/starter motor (which turned out to be fully working and the problem was dirt in the ignition switch - WD40 fixed it) - oil and filter change yearly (£40) and tyres when needed - paid just over £2k for her and she still worth half that - and as a bonus.....she goes like ****.

Retired about 3 years ago - walk the Dogs around the woods twice a day and shoot whenever I want - pick up English guns cheap and restore them whenever I can....what's not to love. On the flip side I have put on weight and nowhere near as fit as I was when working - the deterioration in muscle tone and flexibility is quite rapid if you don't keep as active as you can.

It's like seeing HD TV for the first time - but your vision will deteriorate slightly over the coming months, you can get a clear eye patch that will enable you to see straight away - I had one because I only have one working eye.

Just out of interest - how do you get to the Tap connections? Picture looks like you would have to remove the cooker?

Average is about £40/month - slightly less if you pay yearly in advance. As for parking on your drive you might want to check the deeds to your property and local Council byelaws - often it is not allowed. £12k for a 2 berth!! you will lose half the value in 2-3 years and be unable to have your brethren over to stay. I would also really question the advantage of a big bog/shower - 99.9% of sites have facilities a million times better than your van and they're free - if you get caught short in the wee hours then water the grass behind your van - in 15 years of caravanning we have not used the bog once although I do love to watch the dutiful husbands dragging their wheeled cassettes of effluence to the disposal point every morning - and that's not to mention the smell in the van or the buying of poo melting chemicals

Thatchers??? Honestly???

I pm'd you with an offer of some shooting - in this area you need to be quick cos offers don't come up very often. I am disappointed that you have found the time to argue with fellow members of this forum yet not bothered to reply to my offer - as such the offer is withdrawn - shame cos I have just started a 7 month Squirrel control job as well as undertaking crop protection during the Drilling.

IMHO dougall pretty much sums it up - I would not choose to shoot them on the ground if you can use a set up that will attract them into a tree - you might try a small pattern of full bodied flocked deeks say 40-50 yards out and then loft a couple in a tree upwind to encourage them to land above your head where they present a far easier target.
