  1. I like the SAK. My CZ likes Eley subs. Litts' did me a nice price on a SAK...
  2. I have a CZ style bolt action which I like very much indeed. I would not sell it to buy a semi auto .22 under any circumstances. Happy shooting !
  3. Good for you, an excellent plan, and best of luck with the financial controller. I have one of those as well ! The bottom line is that if you are getting cabinet belt et al, plus some cash, and you like the feel of the gun and it fits you well enough then you should not be disappointed. I wonder whether you could possibly pop off and try some clays with the gun to check that it works OK and to check the fit ?
  4. Sorry I have no idea as to what the SKB might be worth, apart from looking on another website which gun traders might use. Everything will depend upon condition. Unless you especially want a sbs you should really be thinking of an OU in my humble opinion. I say this because they seem easier to sell on and more popular. Broadly speaking you'll get a better return on an OU if you buy used and want to change it. You could find yourself stuck with the sbs unless you chuck it on at say, no more than £200. I think your S410 might be worth more than this.. I have a semi and a sbs only these days, out of choice, but am glad I started out with the OU. It does depend a lot upon what you are going to do with the gun. A good all-rounder OU which you could get for a similar value to your S410 would be a Lanber sporter multichoke, nearly new. If you're not planning on shooting clays and want something you can carry easily, by all means look at a sbs. There are a lot of non-english sbs on the market for not a lot of money..
  5. If it comes out grey I'd see a doctor straight away. Mine is usually a pale yellow, but has on occasion resembled a light-sabre when I have been dehydrated.
  6. I'm a Dad, a Husband, a Solicitor and I shoot bunnies for a local farmer ! Sometimes one of the above is more fun than the others but which one that might be varies a lot.
  7. Thank you, chaps. Will bear that in mind. I'll need a new brush at the same time !
  8. A mate and I went halves on 1,000 D & J fibre-wad clay cartridges. Sadly, they leave leading the like of which I have never seen before. I only ever use fibre wads so am quite used to a little bit of leading. It takes hours of scrubbing with a proper turk's head brush to shift the marks from these, though. Rather than the usual single streaks, the forcing cones look like they have been attacked by acid . It takes ages to get the barrels clean again. Normally I only have to get the turk's head out every 500 shots or so, but these little blighters are clagging up the bore like nothing else. Even my chrome lined Beretta barrel needs a shedload of serious rodding to get clean, and the non-chromed Lanber is like the labours of Hercules. I'm looking forward to getting through this batch and getting back to something cleaner. Am I alone in finding them the filthiest cartridges on the planet ? What else should I consider as an inexpensive fibre-wadded clay shell ?
  9. A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife. She was a very good looking woman, and determined to keep the ranch, but knew very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper for a ranch hand. Two men applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk. She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied, she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk. He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching. For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well. Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "you have done a really good job and the ranch looks great. You should go into town and kick up your heels." The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night. However, one o'clock came and he didn't return. Two o'clock and no hired hand. He returned around two-thirty and found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace. She quietly called him over to her. "Unbutton my blouse and take it off," she said. Trembling, he did as she directed. "Now take off my boots." He did so, slowly. "Now take off my socks." He did. "Now take off my skirt." He did. "Now take off my bra." Again with trembling hands he did as he was told. "Now," she said, "take off my panties." He slowly pulled them down and off. Then she looked at him and said, "If you ever wear my clothes to town again I'll fire you on the spot."
  10. Posting to try to help my sister out - she has a 53 reg Citroen C8 7-seater in a shade of dark metallic grey for sale. It is a 2.0 petrol engined car and has about 25,000 miles on it. It's been well cared for during the year or two they have owned it. Very genuine reason for sale. I'm sorry it is not desperately shooting related but it will carry all your kit, shooting pals, dogs and a few hundred pigeons no problemo ! Price- about £7,500 ono. It's a lot of car for the money. The car is in Eastleigh in Hampshire. Please PM me if you are interested.
  11. Me ! I've got the style model. I took it out last night and lay down on some dewy grass, in the mist, waiting for bunnies with the lamp. It gets a wipe over with an oily rag from time to time and I love it. You might want to check out whether the barrel on the silhouette is free floating, because the style's one has a barrel lug. The stock cleans up beautifully with a damp cloth when I get it muddy. The SAK moderator was great last night. I had to have a second shot on a bunny which I cleanly missed first shot, and he stuck around waiting for me to get my act together, looking rather puzzled, at about 45 yards. The gun sounds like an unmoderated spring air rifle. Brooks trigger kit on mine, with the shim on the sear pin. Nice, light and crisp trigger now.
  12. This year, my Raider 10 has mostly been shooting Air Arms Field.
  13. I've only just looked at this thread - hope you enjoy your gun ! Being a simple soul, I always thought that the reason that carbines usually give less shots than full length rifles, was because they usually have a smaller air cylinder, which being smaller, contains less air. I'm sure a scientific type will be along sometime soon, but I did like Axe's explanation too. Let us see your pride and joy when you get it home. BTW I like .22 too, for bunnies etc it does the job. All the best
  14. I was inspecting one of these in my Axminster Power Tools catalogue only the other day. What a lovely read that catalogue is with its veritable cornucopia of entertaining and practical comment upon their excellent wares.. http://www.axminster.co.uk/category-Brush-...ance-207768.htm this takes you to their brush clearance section. Happy hooking !
  15. Get one of those really dense phosphor bronze brushes onto it - not just the normal twisty one - I think they are called "turk's heads" and scrub it hard with some young's 303 until you cannot see any more traces of rust. Alternative is wire wool dipped in oil - 3 in 1 does the trick for me on rusty metal. Hope this makes sense !
  16. I paid £375 for mine in 2000, I hope it is still worth that today. The heaviest loads I have put through it are 36g bismuth on the foreshore. No problemo. Firing a lot of fast clay loads can knock one about a bit though. It only weighs about 6.5 lbs after all.
  17. How on earth can a gat gun bear trap anything ? It's a push-in job !!
  18. I have one, it was made in 1977, exported in 1978 they know not where, and I bought it in 2000 in very good condition with almost all the original colour hardening. It is great !! Obviously it needs to be kept very clean. Buy on condition rather than age. I had the choice of 2 - the action on mine was slimmer somehow, and the other one had signs of wear.
  19. Now Sold ! Thanks for travelling John, I hope you had a good run home, that your shoes dried out, and that the inmates of this particular asylum left no lasting scars. Werewolves of London indeed ! Hope you both enjoy the gun.
  20. Sorry - I guess you heard the clink as the penny just dropped esp as you are only in Staple Hill ! Previous commitments with family will stop me turning up on Saturday, sadly. I hope it's a success and maybe next time..
  21. Nope - not been there, ever as far as I know,..
  22. I looked out of the bedroom window last night and was surprised to see a hedgehog out at this time of year. Hope he finds a nice place to hibernate !
  23. I take it you have seen mine a few posts below yours ? ! http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=24234
  24. Keep it !! You need a decent air rifle and a decent shotgun and you have both. Horses for courses - you'll find situations where a shotgun is entirely unsuitable..I daresay you could up it to FAC power later if you chose that path..
