  1. I have the RWS Manders, in black on mine. It is very light, quite short, and basic in construction, but quietens the Raider 10 down nicely. I think they are available quite cheaply as well from certain online airgun sales sites. There's still the farting frog noise from the action, but as my shoot borders a river that does not bother me. The muzzle report is nicely muted. I'm sure you know you will need an adapter from Webley to replace the end cap with a 1/2 UN thread.
  2. Probably a basic springer break barrel ie HW80 or BSA Supersport with some spares etc. In .22 of course. That is only if I could also take a shotty and rifle... !
  3. See here http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=21374
  4. What's the sense in being members of this forum if you can't ask the members for their views Jon !! I don't mind in the slightest. I think there was a review of this gun in Sporting Gun a while ago - as a used buy. I'll take a look though my back issues for you.
  5. Money for cartridges is a great idea. I'm reminded of a saying - gratitude costs nothing, but people will sometimes pay a lot to avoid showing it (or something like that) .... these days it's so rare to get something for nothing that we are losing the ability to graciously accept the generosity of others.
  6. I am lucky enough to own both O/U and semi, and this question never really crossed my mind, but when I shoot DTL I focus completely on the target. I've only shot DTL with an O/U. I watch the targets so intently that I honestly think I would not notice if the shot next to me was sending his empties flying in my direction until one slapped me in the chops or bashed my gun. I'd be reluctant to try the semi on DTL unless I really knew the ground and the other shooters, or had the O/U with me in case ejected shells were problematic.
  7. Good for you Deako. Thank you very much.
  8. Caption " and with one shot, at the very last minute Mr Fothergill destroyed the incoming comet and saved the human race from the fate of the dinosaurs" Corking picture ! Good tool for stubble burning, I'd guess...
  9. I used to use a 16b AYA no 3 with a "prince of wales" grip, it was really sweet to shoot, and light too. You should be able to find one without too much trouble. OK it was a non-ejector. It did a lovely job on pigeons, I didn't notice any difference in kills, other than getting very few runners.
  10. There are railway embankments on my shoot too. I don't think you would have a problem as you will be able to see anyone on the footpath. You do need to bear in mind that there are certain people who walk along railway embankments who plainly ought not to be there though. I have in mind children making dens, or illegal rabbit-hunting types. Stops and beaters oft unseen, lurk behind some leafy screen etc...
  11. My S & W revolver provides fast firing fun but I'll admit, in my small back garden, it is a tad noisy. It has a fair old blast on a full CO2 canister, although that does tone down after a mag or 2.

    OCELOTS

It seems that no-one thinks it is oh-sell-oh, so in future, I shall pronouce it ossellott. Thanks to all who posted. The disadvantage of being fluent in French is that I see more ways of pronunciation. My german studies once led me to pronounce Titleist as ***-Leist on a golf course.
  13. My no 7 Opinel is 22 years old. It can open a bit in the pocket, so I put some masking tape in the slot to hold the blade in better. It's a great little knife. I mainly use either a Buck folding hunter, or a winchester sheath knife when I'm out with the gun nowadays.

    OCELOTS

Following on from the Mungler thread, I've only seen an ocelot once, in a zoo. My interaction with said animal might have been more satisfying had I known the correct way to pronounce it's name. Ta v much
  15. Out on my shoot on Friday and what do I see ? A blonde bunny ! Yes, I reckon it's catching on. This one was a little darker than the one above, but make no mistake, it was a lovely rich blonde colour. It ran off before I could get in range, so it ain't stupid.
  16. I'd strap on a scope and shoot things with it, personally !! They sound like a very useful little gun.
  17. I shoot with a .22 cal air rifle. With a head shot the rabbit drops on the spot, it may kick a bit, but it is lights out time straight away. Occasionally I have hit the upper chest and the pellet mushes the heart and lungs. In that case the rabbit will run away, but not get very far because it's engine is kaput. Head shot every time for me. And .177 is perfectly adequate as long as you get a clean head-shot between the eye and the ear.
  18. I've had my Lanber since 1996. No problems, other than its ejectors didn't like Gamebore Clear Winner very much.
  19. Nice shooting ! Was it with subsonics ? A short trip out on a sunny day is great.
  20. OK, you could trade it in and visit its little problems upon an unsuspecting shopkeeper. Would it not be better to have it sorted out/serviced by Hull, and then you can say it has been serviced by Hull Cartridge. Which makes it a more attractive buy and you have a clear conscience into the bargain ?
  21. Looks like it ought to run on dilithium crystals. I'd be worried about the strength of that strap from the bottom of the pistol grip to the butt as well.
  22. Not my cup of tea, says Raider 10 owner.
  23. This is surprising. I have always found HW to have great build quality. Have you taken this up with Hull Cartridge, the official importers ?
  24. For the past 3 years my missus has got away with a slice of toast with local honey on it every day from mid April through to September. Until this year it really seemed to be a miracle cure. She used to get it really badly and the honey stopped all of that. She only needed the occasional squirt of Beconase on the two or three worst days about this time of year. This year is a lot worse though, we don't know why. Local honey is however, highly recommended. A bit late now but give it a go.
