  1. One of my local shooting grounds, willow farm in Kent put it's prices up to £40x100 so we concentrated our hobby on Abby wood at detling, they have just increased their prices to £40, citing cost of clay's and matching the other grounds. With cartridges at £260x 1000 and fuel a round of 100i s now £65 +fuel, My local gun shop commented that they have seen a decline in shotgun sales and more significantly cartridge sales and I do wonder if with the current economic situation this expensive sport will go into decline, last few visits I have noticed that the turn out of shooters was noticeably smaller. Usually at Abby wood I'd have to wait for maybe 5/6 shooters before me, the last 2 visits I've usually just walked intia stand it had to wait while a single shooter is finishing. I went to JJ on Wednesday and it was busy £32x100 I'm already finding it difficult to get shooting buddies to come as 3 have already quit due to rising costs For me I will only be able to justify going once a month, to other clubs. I stopped going to west Kent as they're around 42p per clay. I was wondering if you are beginning to attend less regularly?
  2. My barrels are 30 3/4" Mama bear barrels, not too long, not too short. Yours Goldilocks
  3. Just dug it out, I didn't realize how much kit I have lol, it's probably as close to as new possible. £50 Ashford Kent
  4. I have one if you're still interested, I'd have to dig it out as I haven't shot pigeon for a few years, can't say I found it uncomfortable, but everyone is different
  5. I'm pretty sure the difference is not shot size but the powder burn and speed of shot fired, HP shot was developed to hit game with more energy at longer distances as steel shot does not have the same energy as the same size pellet in lead, a gun that is HP proofed at full choke for those distance requirements or clay shooters who use tight chokes like trap shooters will need to have a gun capable of this requirement. All guns, it has been reported can use nitro steel shot upto 1/2 choke, although it is my understanding that even with half choke the size of the shot size must be a consideration. It's to do with the lack of deformation of steel shot going through the choke constriction. It is also my understanding that most guns proofed for HP at full choke are fixed choke guns. A few screw in choke/gun manufacturing companies have chokes that can take steel at full choke, fabarm guns and Muller chokes are two that I'm aware of. I am not sure if Fabarm can take HP steel at full choke with their screw in choke.
  6. I didn't say any choke I said upto 1/2 choke. Hp is different to normal steel. I guess people have their guns proofed to help with selling. All the information you need is available on the internet
  7. They don't recommend tighter than 1/2 with steel as it doesn't deform like lead as it passes through the constriction , the plas-wad is to protect the bores from the steel shot. Some guns are coming out (I think typically fixed no interchangeable chokes) that are tighter and proofed for steel, some brands eg fabarm are proofed.for steel in their full screw in chokes and apparently Muller chokes will take it. But pretty much all guns regardless will take steel upto 1/2 choke.
  8. Even the DT sup steel proof are only to 1/2 choke, which is the same as old guns for normal steel.
  9. Optima HP 2 flush teague in 1/2. & 1/4 And a Beretta flush in cylinder Barely used £30 each Inc delivery £85 for set delivered UK mainland
  10. I think that the all sport come with a separate"attachable" high rib so you have the option to use it as either a normal low/flat rib or attract the high rib, magnetic I think and shoot it that way
  11. 2x 1 1/4oz no6 3x 35.5gr no5 1x 35.5 gr no 4 2x32gr no 5 usual sgc rules apply Inc collection ashford Kent area £40
  12. As above looking for a 20b shotkam mount for gen 3? (latest model)
  13. Having shot a high rib years ago and I'm interested in a vantage, the one I am going.to view is 32" 12ga with adjustable Monty Carlo stock. Has an had/still own and what are your thoughts, thanks in advance
  14. Easy to do, impossible to sell. I have a nice Perazzi that I had engraved, it looks very nice I'm always justified in ownership if I hit every target on the stand , only to epic fail on the next and hope no one noticed. But I sometimes bump into a guy with an £20+k Perazzi that misses more than me, like me he enjoys the ownership so has learnt to ignore the doggy looks from his doggy attempts to hit targets
  15. Yeah Florent is not a good example, it's always amusing, in his opinion he would buy every gun. He did one a few years back for Christmas, he sounded totally wasted
  16. I watch his videos, his dialogue tends to wander about and he plays devils advocate to his own statements, it's boring, but it's something to watch. Not as bad as David Florent, he needs to leave the building. The bloke off premier guns is with listening too, definitely someone I'd take advice from if I was shopping
  17. I think teenage Cancer trust always needs money and hopefully you never have to call them. They do wonderful work with.these poor children. Please give it your consideration
  18. Well I am pleased that you got a result, I am impressed that Longthorn posted their reply, that can't have been easy, but it was needed. As a said I was in their mailing list circa 2010 and downloaded their brochure as recently as 2 months ago and know Chris Potter has them in stock, I always say they will have to prise my Perazzi out of my dead fingers ...but you never know
  19. I keep reading this thread and tbh if L had admitted that maybe the blank they used was a "faulty batch " and replaced it, but a lot if time goes into making the wood and if a pair of guns with near matching wood then it would have been restocking both? Very costly but on a £50k pair then perhaps they should have swallowed it. When you are at this end of the market with people who can drop this sort of money this kind of charging for anything that puts L out is shortsighted and will influence a purchase decision. Maybe their belief that their methodology of barrel construction makes them immune and arrogant?
  20. Blimey this is shocking, I had, about 9yrs ago seriously considered longhorn and Boxell and Edmondson, but their costs and how new the companies were put me off, I bought a 13 yr old Perazzi for a fifth if the price, after 9yrs of use 2 months ago I replaced one of the original V springs from the kit provided. B&E went under and Longthorn don't seem like the company I could deal with, if a gun costing that much money should come with an understanding customer service and the honesty to level up to any issues.
  21. I'm trying a barrel weight on my gun ATM, I found that when my shotkam was fitted it slowed down the swing,(without the Kam it balances just behind the hinge pin, with the Kam just in front) so seeing if I can replicate the balance with a weight. Balance is no fast rule some prefer perfect , others barrel or stock. It's what works for you
  22. Personally I think any gadget, whether it works for everyone or even anyone for that matter, if you as a shooter perceive that it helps you then it works, I have one fitted and it helps. I do not see it when shooting but if pre-mounting for a target it helps with making sure or reassuring me my mount is good, or a very lazy hanging incomer I use notice it and it helps as I think in that situation I can track that easy to rifle the shot. I don't use it to line my gun up against a flying target. Even if the gadget just is a physiological advantage.
