  1. anything but Lyalvale express 30 g 5s!!.......fav is SIPE 26g 7/28g 6s and I'll be sticking to those.
  2. did he have to do much work to it?..I guess its only a £100 difference and she does'nt have to worry about it now its gone?
  3. blimey I find debates between plastic/Fibre and 20 g v 12g tricky but marriage advice on a shooting forum........yikes......good luck.
  4. as above..stopped subscribing @ 10 years ago.......basically the same articles came around once a year....an industry in decline..even gun reviews never felt 'independent'....
  5. then Beretta sp.!....had lincoln 20g many moons ago was good if had to go from your list...dont know Franchi..what is budget?
  6. Nope stated they are safe to use. apologised that I felt I had to email but no replacement offers.I was going to take them back to the shop where I bought them but they have little to replace them with that I would want and as LE say they are safe I shall use them up. I shall not touch a LE product again though.
  7. I emailed Lyalvale Express and have had their response; ''we are aware of this issue it occurs when chambers and barrels get warm or shots are taken in quick succession due to the polymers in the cases stretching. They are perfectly safe to shoot although we have now had our case manufacturers alter their cases so this will not happen in the future''. So i guess as they state they are safe I shall use them up...interestingly though they have altered the casings....I had @ 120 shots in 4 hours.......warm barrels at times but not exactly glowing hot!!.....
  8. blimey that 1st hide was close to need planning permission........very grand. A nice bag too.
  9. cheers Andy...came along with a proper hangover and this helped clear it up somewhat!!..never knew this ground was there...nice and relaxed and v good bacon bap!
  10. is that the building/estate that burnt down not long back?
  11. Dave Carrie basically shoots high pheasant with a trap gun.........
  12. when take out my 12g I have a mixed bag of shells and do not consciously put different ones in each barrel...although i do if you see what I mean!......on a driven day usually stick to 1 cartridge as appropriate ie usually 7 shot for partridge early pheasant to 5s late season/stronger pheasant. My 'pigeon' bag has anything from clay loads to the odd left over game shells.......If I pull off a 'cracker' of a shot I sometimes look to see what shell it is/was......its usually only a magpie or crow where I stretch the range a bit but it is surprising how many ''blimey that folded a good'un'' are an oz of 7.5s white golds/pro fibres...ie 'clay loads'..so once I have finished off my 'odds & ****'' bag for decoying will happily run with clay loads.
  13. Been out and about in last few days.........Brighton area saw thousands on cut wheat.......Wlitshire yesterday @ Amesbury loads.......at home W Sussex nr Horsham I would've said probably a little down until last 2 weeks when have shot over 100 cartridges each time have gone out.......which is a lot more than last 5 years......the pigeons have just 'arrived' with harvest and I have no idea where from....so I do wonder if they are a little more transient than used to be.....overall would guess populations over last 10 years are fairly similar/stable.Only real surprise is how few young ones are about....
  14. totally normal?..like any other manufacturer? It was particularly the shell on the right which worried me...a few cracks, although bit worse than usual(ie the one on left)not a real concern?.....I'm guessing cramming 30g in is bit much but never had issue with Blackgold...although to be honest I never usually go over an oz in the 20's.......
  15. ?? Have I read this right you have advertised it for 1 day and withdrawn it as nothing selling? Would've thought good gun with good pictures and the right price would sell?
  16. always go on/near flightline.Look to see where the pigeons are landing & then best position depends on natural cover/wind direction but flightline key. 2 whirlies.....don't see why not would keep em a fair bit apart/..personally only ever use 1 + a flapper(great bit of new kit)!.......if wheat has come off cradled/kebab sticked birds/ static decoys/shells........and crack on.don't be afraid to move...90 acre is pretty large field(in my terms it is anyhow) so lots of movement a good thing...
  17. I would have thought it depends upon whether you have a 'sale or return' deal with gunshop OR you have given them the gun?
  18. mk 70 is what you are after.Basically a 525 for less money!...probably best value o/u out there, incredibly well made/reliable..and for your budget would think most folk who have tried a few guns over the years would put on a shortlist.
  19. you can get to try a couple of their guns though.......lessons are expensive, ground and pavillion v nice.
  20. good question have couple of other 20's could try them through but if my main game gun don't like 'em they are not really for me.....I am going to take them back from where I bought them and see what they have to say...not mad on the idea of checking up the barrels after every shot.
  21. is there a special badge for shooting the Scout pigeon?
  22. this..I went with a silvers pad,due to the stripes of the pad it also makes any wooden extension piece left/put in place look much better than expected. I got the work down for @ £80 and there was noway I could have done it as well DIY.......
  23. I have kept a few cases/box/batch numbers etc...shall ask my son to send me a picture so I can share it(thank you for kind offer Wymberley)..at rrp of @ £100 a slab am bit ticked off!
