the problem with short courses is that you will learn the theory and some practical, what you don't get is the chance to practise and get experience like an apprentice served sparks would, my apprenticeship was 5 years 40 years ago beat me to it to be fair we have had some appalling electricians working in our hospital so try it you might have nothing to lose
