  1. They are not built to start cars they are designed to transfer their charge to the cars battery to give I short term boost Regarding the talk about lithium and aircraft, at least two brand new Dreamliner's had massive damage whilst on the ground when there lithium batteries caught fire
  2. I wonder how many go down the pub and buy a pint or two at silly money and complain to the landlord rather than go to a supermarket and buy about between 12 & 20 cans for £12.00 Some things we just live with others we accept. normally the people with deep pockets are just never happy
  3. As the tin says both are mentioned on old guns
  4. Try getting the barrels measured for thickness thats the first thing and should not cost much just time to do it
  5. Your best bet is to ask a experienced shooter to go with you and advice on gun fit. most guns are pretty standard with about 14-15 inch lop and right biased. If you can comfortably shoulder it and look straight down the barrel you are close, if you both check its unloaded and the other guy stands about 15 feet away, you mount the gun and aim at his say right eye, he can tell you if he is looking straight down the barrel. and that will do for starters, some gun shops have the ability to check your gun fit others are just salesmen who have little idea. When you start you will not have a fixed mount it only comes with practice so little point in a perfect fit, but after say 6 months you will have settled down and then maybe get a final gun fit from a expert who will make any small adjustments required or write down the measurements for a gun smith to adjust to
  6. As the tin says I am looking for a winter clay shooting jacket recommendation, must be relatively lightweight. no woolen or tweed Prefer a fleece lining and not over about £180 Game type jacket not required as to heavy Guaranteed to improve shooting ability would be a strong advantage
  7. Nobody mentiond High Lodge incredibly nice place with plenty of veriety in a wooded area plus skeet and dtl open 7 days a week
  8. The old timers don't or didn't do bad with 25", makes you think if it's all in the mind following fashion, It's a wonder they hit anything without screw in multi chokes and no back-bored 25" shotguns
  9. I did and nothing said has changed my mind except the usual excuses, a backstop should be a solid object with clear vision to where the bullet lands, I looked half a hour ago is not a good answer Are you saying I am wrong if so where
  10. Slightly off subject but people know its illegal to drink drive or use a mobile phone whilst driving, does that stop them all, Accidents are often a excuse for negligence and complacency
  11. La Bala Are you saying a hedge is your backstop, just could there have been anyone in the wooded area, people do have a right to rome
  12. Hamster Sorry to go off track a bit but can you explain this comment "You can sort the odd fault or two but very hard to breath handling into a dead gun." seems a strange thing to say
  13. The mind boggles who though up using this mix 1 part molasses 9 parts water
  14. Can any gunsmith state any gun make that has not had any problems, and surley double discharge is very rare on modern guns, agreed Betinsolli had a reputation in the 80 & 90's, but so did quite a few makes
  15. Dont forget the measurement of a cartridge is the fired length not the unfired length so if for instance you by 70mm cartridges and unload one and straighten out the crimp the who length is 70mm and considerably smaller when crimped I think he is using 3" carts as i have never seen burnt ends before on 410
  16. Beginners want confidence otherwise they soon get either frustrated and shoot even worse or feel embarised with others watching and give it up AS others have said skeet is probably the best starters sport in that you learn all the basic skills like how much lead to give on set speed targets and can see the improvements over time, when confident then sporting opens up more challenging targets. Again as stated number 9 shot size cartridges give you a slightly better chance of a hit on skeet (more pellets in the cartridge) Just get chokes opened up and then forget all abouth them untill you feel your quite a handy shot or you start DTL
  17. Kreighoff K80 with a full set of 20g, 28g and 410 tubes
  18. The funny thing is gun makers selling them with one make of choke this year and next year a different choke, they seem to think it makes them sell better than supplying their own chokes
  19. Get them free if you join the army
  20. two common sence answers and the cost will be small to get it changed to wider chokes
  21. Why would a beginner want a shotgun with full choke and shooting skeet and only possibly the odd pigeon Come on fellers, get real
  22. Just pay for a gunsmith to open to about 1/4 and 1/2 or 1/4 and 1/4 and good for most things, most shooters have little need for anything over half unless dtl or wild fowling
  23. Just like driving instruction, however good a shot you may be, please consider hireing a expert coach for a few lessons for him first. Very often parents do not make good teachers for first timers;but expert coaches will have the right gun and patience to guide them onto hitting the clay
  24. I brought the CEN's without the electronics about £120, very happy with them and ability to upgrade them to the electronic parts at a later date if ever required, but doubt this will be required any time soon
