I am assuming you shoot a rifle as you mentioned you have been asked to leave the Deer alone. If you are baiting up with road kill or whatever you choose, can i suggest you get yourself a cheap alarm clock not digital,around £1, tie a line (braid if you use it for fishing)or string around the battery the other end to the bait,as Fox'y takes the bait it stops the clock do this a number of time and you will get a good idea of the time Mr Fox is around and of course the location. Then get yourself in position about 1/2 an hour before and get "him or her" to catch your bullet saves allot of waisted time hanging around specially this weather

Answer to the question, Either 223 or 22.250 which ever you decide on, it aint gona make allot of difference. You wont be shooting much over 250 yds, so its not going to make enough difference worrying about trajectory's for this that and god knows what. get down the gun shop see what they have in and buy the rifle,223 OR 22.250 stick the best scope on you can afford, which in my oppinion is more important than listening to B#S on here about someone shooting "X" amount of fox's and "my calibre is better than your calibre" If your strapped for cash or your some one who spends wisely look at the cost of running the rifle too, i'm refering to the cost of ammo, its no good having a nice rifle but not being able to afford to use it now is it

Over the 38 years (thats a long time ) i have been shooting air rifles i have seen umpteen new super do all space age tech gizmo's pellets that say they are better than anything thats been around, sussex sabot ox nato promethious titan black and all shapes, pointed-flat-hollow pointed-wad cutters and God knows many others that have been and gone. One old favorate "Eley wasp" Simple-Lead-Domed-pellet,the one that ALL other were compared to. Just check out the International Field Target boys and see what they use. i can bet you nearly 100% use simaler to AA field,Accupell,Premiure Stick to whatthe pro's use and you wont go far wrong

Yep same here, got a variation for ".30" cal also variation for another 22.250 a spare just incase, well i have all the dies for one so save having to buy a different set. (just noticed some room in my cupboard and asked flo if i could fill it)

To be honest i think your going too busy with you scope. Keep it simple if you need a variable mag scope stick to thinks a little smaller. 3-9x40 is more suitable for the needs of air rifle By doing so you will up the quality of scope by not having the high mag and frills. As for 24x mag i have 1/2 that on my 22.250 but still manage to hit targets over 300yds thats a little further than air rifle range.

177 30ftlb 22 you will be looking at a little short of £k for a good set up,thats a PCP all in. Springer are ok but a bit yesterday :yp: 22rf you can 1/2 that cost and the weight. There should be no reason why FLO should refuse you FAC unless you have been a naughty boy in the past. 22RF will limit its use in some areas around the permission,barns,shooting into the air and simalar.

Jimbo, if there is any chance to check out this rifle (shooting wise that is) before handing aver any cash i would reccomend you do, Please dont get upset, i am not having a dig, 595 are a few years old now, and i would assume its been used by how much. It needs to shoot decent groups with factory ammo otherwise you will be very dissapointed in your purchase. Certianly a good choice though if all is well, plus when you get the chance to you can buy another rifle for the cabinet And as Ackley has mentioned his super load for "his" rifle please dont assume its going to shoot the same in yours. I would have thought with all the experience Ackey has, he should know a little better.

Get a black & decker work bench or simalar clamp the rifle in that, put some through it and check the results on target against the scope. Sounds to me its a scope/mount issue. Are the mounts on correctly ? And use a different scope.

i have a bosch sd12 Its a brill piece of kit no problem going through 4x4 inch,you wont need to cut deeper.
