  1. Got one of those beasts in the garage (well i hope stihl i have) Now i am probably in the wrong here but what i have done is,-fill with decent fuel, take out plug & heat it up,squirt some lighter fluid in the pot, replace plug and lead and start not failed yet. Must admit its been replaced with a newer more upto date safer 180 now with a nice chain brake on 08S is a bit OTT for logging
  2. nobody can tell you on here without actually seeing the gun and testing the barrels, it needs to go to a gun smith, you will then get your answer. You can have the dents knocked out and if possible have the gun barrels slieved or even re-barreled but you will have to look at the cost, will it be worth having it done if its old and past its time then it probably wont be worth spending the money. They all have there maximum use in life whatever make they are
  3. If its not in proof and its sold you will be liable to a hefty fine per barrel. You may not even give it away.
  4. you wont go far wrong spending a few hours practicing in the wood were you have permission. pick branches or leaves at different hights ,angles and making a mental.note were you actually need to aim to hit the point. Time practicing will be rewarding jn the long run. Of course all shots will be safe.
  5. If your intent on shooting a few which i cannot see why you should'nt, if its a springer try putting your pellets in upside down or skirt first, at short range accuracy wont be a problem & you will have less runners i promise you even if its a PCP its still poss. Enjoy
  6. Were i work now there will not be anyone taken on full time through the company, They will use agency workers, as the company dont pay them sick pay. Full time employees in this country are taking the "P" .Simple :o So think about that one all those who have there so called "cant be bothered to support the company i work for" days Just lazy
  7. I was in the sports shop in Enniskelin in May this year and they were on about it then, i was told it is difficult for you over there to get any variation as far as FAC goes, hope it goes through for you all
  8. Yes It will end up being allot cleaner if you do, Of course when it is possible it is always easier to do the job if the beast is hanging from the hind feet, also quicker
  9. Dig out more like blew it out :o

    wood burners

Is this also the case if you have an open fire What about christmas time ??????? lighting the brandy on the christmas pud should we inform the insurance company about that aswell or do you think we will all be OK
  11. look for a 4 season + walking boot on the www, go for one with as few stitched seams as possible ideally just the one moulded piece of leather. The less seams the boot has the less likely to split or let water through My link

    wood burners

Not sure i would go down that road myself,it will get very hot in the fire place. If i were you while you have a mess in the area get a bricky to dress the bricks for you re point them or replace them. It will look good and i would imagine last longer, I would think the tiles would eventually become loose with the heat
  13. I know its not a finish that Holland & Holland would use but once you have given it a good clean i'de give it a spray with plasticoat in whatever colour you choose, it doesnt look too bad finish wise and will protect the barrels from the elements. The bonus is with the spray its not that hard to remove if you need to, and its cheap

    Chest freezers

Bigthug, its a bit of a way off but i have one free if your interested, works fine no longer in use as a smaller one is on the way after Christmas as it fits in my cave down the garden better. Its a fair size i have had 1/2 a dozen body's in there and room for another 1/2 dozen easy. (Roe Deer that is)
  15. I find it hard to believe the difference it would have made if it were an old type bulb he had put his foot on. The amount of mercury in the energy saving bulbs is so small you would have difficulty seeing it on the end of a ball point pen, it seems to me it is just another frightning story agains energy saving bulbs simalar to the ones from the early days.

  17. I am with you on this If a polite no is not accepted then i'm afraid i am not so polite, after all it was your door thatthey choose to knock on, i am the same over the phone. Am i getting a grump in my old age It never used to happen in the olden days.
  18. I have only shot 3 fox's with .30 all with 150gr SST all but one needed a 2nd but that was while driven boar shooting. The others were a mess both shoulder shots so as Kent mentioned they may need to hit something other than soft flesh to impart enough damage for that instant kill your after
  19. To be honest my last purchase from SGC was a brill bargain, one of the best ever for me. A Swaro Z4i 3-12x50 il ret, the offer was a free pair of Minox bins (£199) with the scope. My choice for the scope was black as i didnt want the other option of a DayGlo Orange Beacon dangling round my kneck. I recieved my scope on time but a note enclosed saying no black Minox scopes. I rang them to say if you sent me the silly Orange one i would spray it black i "DID NOT WANT ORANGE" whats the allternative well after a bit of haggling and a bit of moaning i ended up with a nice pair of Bushnell infinity 10.5x45 bins in Green (£379) must say though i did think they forgot to post them after waiting for a week, so i rang them and checked they still had my address, arrived 3 days later.
  20. I cant believe you have to apply for permission to install a wood burner, you are never required to seek permission to buy a gas fire, electric fire, central heating or thinking about it any internal combustion engine all of which are allot less greener than a log burner. How about if you ordered over the www What are the bricks like behind the plaster could they be dressed, tidied up and make a feature try looking for alernate fire place ideas not just the every day type that sold by the thousands, do you want a modern look or something a little more oldy worldy and old oak gate post bolted over the fire place to look like a wooden lintel.
  21. If they feel the need to burn some poppy's then i would gladly assist together with a tanker full of petrol sprayed all over the nice people. Burn Baby Burn Disco Inferno. What gets me they are allowed to stay over here, the scum should be shipped home, and its very likley nicer Muslims would help in chucking them in the containers ready for shipping them off.
  22. shavings and have a look at heat lamps too, possibly cheaper to run..
  23. for £70 you should be able to buy 7" boner yes nice one tell you what chard, for you mate special offer you can have mine for 1/2 price If you need a recomendation or an honest review of what knives to buy i'll put money on you going in to any butchers shops, slaughter houses and asking what they use and i can bet you the answer will 90% of the time be the same;- VITRINOX, you dont see them advertised at silly food shows or on adverts on Utube or the like saying they cut through cucumbers like butter or slicing through tomato like cutting water or whatever, they are used by people who need reliability and working tools not something nice to look at with a fancy lable.
  24. As far as the liner is, the one you have at the mo will not be suitable for the heat from a burner or an open fire, it will soon burn the liner no problem. If your lucky and its a 6 inch allready installed then you should be able to change the liner without too much trouble, fingures crossed its not a 5 inch. The one you need is normally about £25 a mtr if your an average house 9mtrs should do. plus a few bags of vermiculite to back fill around the liner. (a DIY job ) What i am interested in is why if you have a boiler fitted does the fire burn more logs than one without. Please explain. Giving less BTU's yes i understand due to the transfer of heat all around the house instead of just the one room, which i thought would have been a bonus,
  25. Cant you seperate the barrel from the stock It will then only be 1/2 the size and less likely to look like an air rifle, wrap it up well- sorted But whatever you do dont do what loads of 1/2 wits do and leave it on a train or bus. I have had one handed in not long ago.
