  1. Can't (won't) argue with a single point.
  2. There is nothing in fishing IMO to compare to that pull on the line, be it an almost imperceptible touch or an almighty tug as a fish takes.
  3. I am no spring chicken and for as long as I can remember financial aid has been given to most of the same regions in the world and the problem still persists to the same or higher level.Money is obviously not the answer and I believe never will be. I certainly agree that charity begins at home especially in these trying times & all overseas aid from UK should be suspended for the foreseeable future. I personally do not want our government giving on my behalf.Especially when their 'humanitarian and charitable' motives are questionable and are very hard to disagree with without being considered heartless or callous.Any private individual of course can contribute whatever they can afford should they so wish. The only people who do not seem to be affected by the sight of chldren dying are the leaders of the regions concerned and they are the ones who are in the best position to do something about it.
  4. I would pay someone to follow you and fill them in..
  5. Initial set up costs are small compared to most other pastimes. Best Rods, reels etc are nice but not neccessary and distance casting is nice to do but not at all neccessary.Even on the bigger waters lots of fish are around the waters edge and I could fish all day within 20'-00" of the bank and catch fish. Distance casting will come in time and with practice. Most bad casts are as a result of trying to get 1 more yard in distance using a poor technique. On any waters other more experienced anglers are more than willing to help you with your technique.I personally find it very hard not to offer help when watching a novice flogging away and obviously struggling. It has always been welcomed. The biggest drawback is with day ticket costs and fuel. If set up costs are considered a problem I strongly believe ongoing costs are a bigger problem.(As UK Poacher says.)
  6. I have two Abu Garcia spinning/trolling rods, brand new and in orginal bag. great looking rods and never seen the light of day. Pics available and a good price for the pair if interested? 8''-00" 500 series - 18-30 gram 8-6" Maxxar graphite - 15-70 gram

  8. £300 edited. I know nothing!!
  9. All the people in power it has been said, were afraid to cross the Murdoch Empire in case they came under fire from him. Surely if they had a clean conscience, as they should have, they would have nothing to fear. Critics of Murdoch who said nothing previously are now coming out.It makes me wonder why now and not prior to his apparent demise. Thats the problem, they are all IMO feathering their nest at the expence of the public trust one way or another. I cannot name anyone in public life that I would trust anymore. Can anyone name a current Politician, for example that they think can be believed? The older I get the more cynical I have become. :yp:
  10. Its a bit more than a shed full...
  11. Would £161 million fit under the bed?

  13. When I moved into our new house (long time ago) I put 3" depth of this 'cake'(treated and dried human waste) down and then overlaid it with turf. Lawn flourished but for a couple of years at least, every time it rained it stank to high heaven. But got a loveley crop of free tomatoes...
  14. Sorry I know nothing about dogs but if that was me I would be off to the doctor immediately as it could become life threatening very quickly. Am sure a member will give you much better advice , hopefully.
  15. Why should 'they' change it? It works very well for 'them'. :yp:
  16. A friend wants some smaller ones, but going cheep..
  17. I have deepest sympathy for you,I have been there with a slipped disc as it was called. In my case, no treatment worked, including traction which I believe is no longer done.It mended itself eventually. I am still always conscious of having a glass back but have had no real problems in over 30 years since. My experience suggest don't sit for too long, don,t stand for long. ie do not overdo anything and I would think swimming as you are would be one of the best things you could be doing as you need to maintain muscle tone without doing more damage. A good hot relaxing bath worked wonders for me short term AS LONG AS YOU CAN GET IN AND OUT of the bath. If boredom is your problem can I say that in my time no computers were around so you have at least one outlet. I am now going back to the duck shoot game :shoot: good game, good game. I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.
  18. Have you just been watching 'Chainsaw massacre' or some such blood and guts film? I don't believe your comments are from the rational mind of a true fieldsportsman.
  19. Been with Churchill for a few years (go up every year even though I do price comparisons), but this year went up 37%. Best I got was Liverpool Victoria this time,so they got it. I am sure they all have an agreement as to who gets the new business every year.
