  1. Glue them on your Viking helmet.
  2. I know how hard it is. You have my sympathies.
  3. I bet he is a tad brassed off especially as they are supposed to be more rufty tufty than the old Defender. I know of someone who has one who has clocked up a reasonable amount of on road miles. He has had issues with door seals letting in water and I believe is still waiting for certain software updates but seems happy with it. I'm still not convinced enough to want to spend that sort of money although it seems dealers have unsold stock in hand so prices have dropped.
  4. Glad things have settled for the dog. I always keep a big tube of Pro-Kolin in stock for just such occurrences. We sometimes feed scrambled egg & rice too.
  5. Doesn't look right at all. Perhaps the stock was shortened to the pistol grip but an ignorant photographer superimposed an upside down butt on
  6. Some very good advice here. The pup is a baby and easily frightened or over excited. The children need to be aware of this and supervised and controlled - by you - when around the dog.
  7. Very poor show if proved but found by the "Cheshire Against Blood Sports as they sabbed the Cheshire Forest Hunt" might indicate an ulterior motive for the finding.
  8. As per my earlier post I do have a little experience of forum admin and funding via donations. I think it worth mentioning that funds paid for what would ostensibly be the running costs for a service supplied obviously require careful handling and - depending on majority feelings - a degree of accountability. Worse case scenario is the possibility of the forum being seen as a business of sorts - with all that entails. Let me make clear the above is not to put any kind of dampener on well meaning kindness and suggestions but is intended merely as looking at things from a different angle. All that said I'd be quite happy to pop a donation into the collecting box 🙂
  9. I know my other half would like to get away for a holiday every now and again but I also know that she, like me, tends to find arranging, packing, getting there and after a short space of time doing the same in reverse as tedious and stressful as me. Add to that that me being in remission means travel insurance can be iffy, arranging cover to look after our numerous dogs, horses etc and then worrying about them and things at home generally neither of us tends to find going away particularly relaxing. I feel we did our travelling before the kids came along so am quite content to have days out around this and surrounding counties.
  10. Just to update: One nut duly arrived in its allotted place but I couldn’t feel the other anywhere in the canal so had him into the vet a couple of weeks ago. She examined him but was a bit unsure and thought was due to the dog being a bit tense and tucked up. We agreed to wait a bit longer but to get the senior vet to examine him while she was at my place vaccinating some of our horses and one of our other Labs. Obviously the dog was a lot more relaxed on home territory so not tucked up. She found the missing testicle up in the canal - so a bit of progress. We are going to leave things as they are for a bit longer and hopefully nature will take its course - if not then he will be unzipped to remove the offending bits.
  11. Aye, they sat right on top of a rather fuzzy pack of Spangles.
  12. Just dug deep into my old trouser pockets…
  13. When I was a kid I remember coming across an old white fiver being held by the wind against a chainlink fence, I retrieved it and remember the girl I was with and I gawping at it thinking of all the things we could get. For the life of me I can't remember what happened to it [really] so it couldn't have been that exciting. But all these years later I can picture it now the edges flapping in the wind while pinned against the fence.
  14. Yep, 30 old pennies to half a crown, 8 half crowns made a £.
  15. Lots of comments on various sites and reviews mention the odd steering mainly concerning the poor self centering. The other common mention is the bulge / footrest in the driver footwell on RHD vehicles to accommodate the catalytic converter. I’m not sure my back and left leg could stand being forced to stay in one position on longer drives due to that bulge / footrest which limits footwell space so much. It is a solid enough chassis and body but some of the trim in those I have looked at has been poorly finished and anyone using bifocal glasses are going to have to lean right back to see the legends on the roof centre console switchgear - at least until you get used to which switch does what. The rear departure angle is not as good as it would first appear due to the location of the small fuel tank. Expensive for a utility. I reckon it’s aimed more at lifestyle types who like the image or dream of going on expeditions to far off places.
  16. Pass. Never appealed originally and still doesn’t.
  17. Not for me. That said I briefly toyed with the idea when my consultant said I had gone into remission but being immune suppressed his advice was not to. My daughter [21] has a few. One depicting one of our heavy horses we lost suddenly back in 2020, another of the litter of ESS puppies we had that year and I believe a few others. At 21 she is capable of deciding for herself, I can only give her my opinion.
  18. Indeed, in fact I co admin a long established and fairly large vehicle forum which is funded by voluntary donations.
  19. I see they have updated the On The Beach advert that features the obnoxious family. Another that yanks my chain is the “I am what I am” Virgin Atlantic ad featuring a range of stereotypical “diverse” individuals mainly because the background song tends to hang around in my noggin. The marketing types have succeeded in that respect but I find the whole presentation tedious.
  20. Anyone got one / tried one? When they were initially announced as a Land Rover Defender replacement with a price to match I was very interested but as time rolled on and the price increased the shine wore off a bit. Now that they are in full production and available at a hefty price I'm not really sure about it. The last Defender 110 XS USW I bought new in 2014 was about 35k. My current D Max V Cross a bit more. The Grenadier is 70k+. Are they really worth that?
