  1. I have a Browning Ultra XS with number of chokes. I have:- Midas - Full, 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4. Diamond choke - 1/2 Briley - 1/4, and 3/8 x2 I want to swap the Midas and Diamond chokes for the Briley silver extended type or teague extended, as I already have three of the Briley chokes.. More interested in Skeet, 1/4 and 1/2. Will swap as a job lot or individually.
  2. Death from below. I would imagine that your post was done tongue in cheek. If not, it is the running for "dumbest post by a newcomer". I think you could win. Each to his own discipline. Both require skill and not everyone has access to game shooting.
  3. How much for cash? Then you can ask for a cash discount with no trade in on a Cynergy. Send me a PM if you don't want to publish.
  4. Blaser - now I know where it is. My older sister used to own Crook House at Crooklands.
  5. Is it the Trap model - if it is I might be interested.
  6. Henry - seems to me it isn't just the shooting community who should mourn his passing. Seemed like a genuine nice bloke. Didn't know him, but wish I had.

    Not bad - how much?
  8. Blaser - you're right. Life is too short. Just been to Blackpool Gun Club, Rishton tomorrow. Still don't know where Lupton is.
  9. Blaser - I will call a halt to our battle of wits. Your comments about stealing clays irritated me. I have never had an extra one for practice - I would regard that as cheating. I am happy to pay for what I shoot, not for what the ground owner has made it impossible to see. I might give Lupton a try. Which Saturdays is it on?
  10. Blaser - it sounds very simple when you say that only three stands at Worsley faced the sun. Firstly, it is stupid having any at all going in to the sun. Secondly, you cite that only one pair was wasted at each stand. Not true. At one stand we sent four pairs before we saw any. They could have been breakages, but our guess was that we never saw them because of their flight path. Defend them if you will, but I have shot clays all over the country for nearly 30 years and they are the most stupid I have come accross. "I do not agree that Kelbrook has poor targets. I find thats when it's busy you might have to wait a few seconds for someone else's clays to disapear from your vision but that is not a problem". "If you can imagine the ground minus the foliage,50% of the stands would have to go. Just have a good think next time you go,that if it wasn't for the trees how many guns would be pointing your way". I am struggling to reconcile these two statements.
  11. Blaser - I don't take extra birds and steal from no-one. Your comment was, at best, silly. If you have clay counters you are paying to have a look at the birds. Although you might get a breakage allowance, it rarely covers breakages. We went to Worsley some months ago - clay counters. On three stands we could not see the targets as they flew into the sun. We wasted a fair number before deciding not to shoot them. Kelbrook has a large ground - I fail to se why any clay from a neighbouring stand should enter your field of vision. It's just poor target setting.
  12. Anyone have a single key Brattonsound in the North West, that they want to sell?
  13. I knew someone who had a Gunshop. It's a few years ago. He told me he made £3 per thousand and had to haul them up from the cellar. Only reason he sold them was that customers came for them and may buy something else. If he didn't stock them - they would go elsewhere.
  14. Coniston - first class. Targets, food, organisation, parking. Manchester (Worsley) and Kelbrook - poor targets and the dreaded Claycounter. Won't be using either again. Greetlands - Small club, but good targets. Worth a visit. Peter - make the effort - visit Eddie Threlfall's shoot at Rishton. Brilliant food, good targets and nice people. Just off motorway as well.
  15. Surly Junior has returned to clay shooting after a 15 year gap. I handed him a nice Browning 32" 3/8 and 3/8, but the wimp wants an auto. Broke his shoulder and just had the plate out. He is a big lad and has not responded well to me calling him a wimp. Foolishly, Mark S let him have a go with his Beretta Tecknys Gold. Now he wants an auto. Don't want to lash out a bundle - in case he goes off shooting. Hatsan Escorts look cheap and a lot of gun for the money. Any opinions?
  16. Thwaites or Hydes Bitter - or Jamaican Rum.
  17. Hellier0437 "you make out that this is a devious and underhand question. you fail to notice that so called "loopholes" in the law will have been purposfully left open by the government. It is not the case that they have simply missed it as this would have come up in any debate on the matter". This is possibly the most stupid statement I have ever seen on a gun forum. I say possibly, because there might be someone more stupid out there. I hope not.
  18. Out of those - Remington - no question. Baikal second, Escort a poor third.
  19. Full = full Improved modified = 3/4 Modified = 1/2 Light Modified + 3/8 Improved Cylinder = 1/4 Skeet = slight choke Cylinder = no choke at all

  21. Not all trap guns shoot high. Many sporters shoot high. Check the top rib - if does not taper down, the gun should shoot roughly where you point it. I have been using trap guns for Sporting for about 20 years. Just prefer the chunkier forend. You can either get a multichoke, or get the chokes opened up. Get a gun that suits you. Don't get hung up on a model.
  22. No - bought from Bamfords. It had done very little and was still quite tight. Bond and Bywaters repeated more than once that it seemed to have done little - I was not sure what point they were making, but decided against filling in the gaps in the conversation. I felt uncomfortable dealing with them and will not be doing again.

Stalker1 - you are right. I believe you can't remove a spare wheel to check it. Why he removed - who knows. Got a big settlement, but didn't need the injuries.
  24. I came up as German Shepherd - ironic - I've had four. Now an Akita man.
