Thanks all. Saw a 687eell this AM which l like a lot, not quite what was thinking about but it ticks most of boxes and leaves me with a bit of cash to get it properly fitted etc. Not too bad on weight at 7lb 2oz

Have ruled out a 16 bore ad do quite a bit of goose shooting and haevy/non tox 16 bore loads are virtually non existant

Any recommendations? Have ruled a 20 out due to lack of load choice, seen nothing over 24g and don't want to homeload.

Why not take a half gun? An hours not bad to get fowling, assume you mean either John Muir or Lindisfarne?

Is the cost problem not created by folk who want riven days, rather than a good old rough or walked up day? The latter being much more enjoyable and without huge bags.

They class 32g no4 as standard and 32g no3 as hp for some reason per their website

Is it really a problem? easier and cheaper on use if members subs to produce them that way? Cant see any real need to carry the card with you?? Mine goes in a draw and is replaced when the new ones arrive

**** law, the big american companies like Cabelas and Basspro no longer ship here so we have pay rip off uk prices for kit

Standard steel in a 2.5 or 2.75 inch case upto no4s will be fine, eg gamebore 32g super steel or grand prix by eley etc.
