  1. That's exactly how I was shown to close the gun and have done so ever since.
  2. The skin especially when it's done so it's crispy is the best bit. When we were kid's the spuds were the size of a brick and done for hour's in the side oven next to the coal fire , modern ovens never seem to replicate it.
  3. https://www.shootinguk.co.uk/answers/gun-safety-catch-19332/#:~:text=Shotguns with an automatic safety, when the gun is broken. This really only repeats what's been said.
  4. https://www.struttandparker.com/knowledge-and-research/shoot-beaters-and-pickers-up-right-to-work-minimum-wages-and-real-time-information This is a little old but only reference I can find that may be relivent, sorry if the post derailed a bit.
  5. Just shoot with whatever suits you auto or non auto it's down to your personal preference nowt to do with anyone else. My own preference is auto safe and regadless if I shoot non auto or auto. the safety catch only ever goes off just before I shoot and always put back on even if I didn't fire the gun.
  6. Clearly the shoot / shoots you beat on value the beaters shame other's don't.
  7. LB I did read all of your statement is was same as last year when you posted the same. I have been beating for a lord who insisted that all the gun's thanked the beaters regardless of status that included Prince Charles manners cost nothing. One of the best team of gun's I've been beating for was all military people who insisted that we share their food and drink. And as an example my latest dog cost £1000 as a pup god only knows how many hour's training it to a very good standard I have to cover any vet's bills myself ( I saw one bitch who had a 12 cut across her stomach from hidden barbed wire rushed to emergency vet the owner had a huge bill to pay ) waiting in the cold and wet as gun's decided to have another break but we were miles away from any shelter, fuel to pay etc but you begrudge giving the beaters anything at all as its not work but fun ( again check the definition of work ) all for less than you pay for one bird. The bottom line is without any beaters there would not be any bird's to shoot. Any keeper worth his salt ensure that in one form or another the beaters get something back for their hard work and loyalty. If you felt so strongly about beaters getting nothing you could have refused the money you was paid.
  8. Clearly you don't understand the definition of work regardless of any payment or not, you state that those who go for money or try to get shooting are not welcome nor wanted then claim you earnt £2100 in one season ! Make your mind up. Even if there no payment for beating you are still classed as employed by either the estate or the shoot and they are indeed liable in the event of any accident
  9. I don't really think anyone does it for the money but concidering how much the gun's pay for the day there should be some sort of reward, some shoots like what tonyshooter has said have looked after the beaters sadly a lot don't.
  10. So far I've been very pleased, it certainly amplifies the sound when turned up but I always put on the lowest setting for hearing things and gun shot suppression is good. I much prefer them to the Cens I have that fell apart.
  11. Some people think that beaters should not get anything at all because it's fun not work regardless of cost of fuel or vet's bills.
  12. I have a Paladin NV for sale if your interested say £125,I've shot a lot of rats with it. I have recently purchased a Pard 008 as it's lighter for me.
  13. It may just be a bit of dit on the union face, when you tighten the union hold the valve with some grips to hold it as you tighten it but hold the valve the opposite way to the way it tightens.
  14. It could be the rad tail not made in correct, depending on the type of valve it may be the rad tail where it joins the valve, the spindle or more likely thevalvehas not been held when tightening the union ,or over tightened who knows.
  15. I can't work out where you mean it's leaking from as you're description isn't clear a picture would help. It will be fine to run the heating with the radiator turned off just make sure the system pressure is around 1 bar when cold.
  16. Regardless of if you like him or not and I never have will he be able to get a fair trial concidering how the media has gone on?

    Heat pumps

When I was still at work we had a problem with ground source heating at a school, it required a new part that had to come from Germany it took 7 months to arrive, the school had gas boilers as a back up and did not want the gsh repaired as they saved over £3k in electric.

Someone correct me if I am wrong uk domestic solar is limited to 3.6kw. I have a 6kw system with battery so I can't see solar on its own would be enough to power the ashp bearing in mind the limited sunlight in the UK winter. This is a screen shot of mine today and it's a bright sunny day
  19. The little box they come in also charges them then you just recharge the box. I just use on the lowest volume setting done by tapping the left one, I got mine via the Isotunes Web site that gave me I think 15% off . There are little magnets in the box so they cannot fall out, I also put a neck cord on just as a precaution but they haven't fallen out yet. You also get several set's of different size foam inserts.
  20. I can't help regarding Swatcom but after my Cens dropped to bit's I replaced them with Isotunes Caliber BT sport, I've used them on a sim day and been very pleased you can also if you want connect them to your phone.
  21. Bit of a hypocrite, sorry can't get link to work but a quick Google will show it.

    Net Zero

The government doesn't have any money of their own only what's been paid in by taxes, we already have to pay a green levy on our energy bill whether we want to or not, more tax will be the only way housing can be insulated
  23. My Volvo uses adaptive cruise control so the car would always be braking on its own if the car Infront did not drive at a constant speed.
