  1. Recently had a variation, wanted fox and aolq adding on the rimfires and a change from .223 to .243 with deerstalking adding, sent it to Staffs Police on Friday and got it back on the Tuesday. Great service! Good to hear about the telephone interviews as well.
  2. Don't even mention a shooting club to your FEO, there is no need to join one. Just state why you require the rifles, ie, vermin control etc. If you mention a shooting club they may hold you to it at your expense.
  3. Any RFD will sell low, medium or high mounts, get the lowest ones you can.
  4. +1 with Fenboy, FN made a brilliant version of the .762 rifle used by armed forces all over the world. The British Army had them, (and may still have a few !!), the rifle was great, I know, I used them. I think they were withdrawn by some EU law because of the calibre or foot/poundage issue. It was always called a "Belgian FN" if it was an original and not a copy.
  5. Hawke 3 x 9 x 50 AO IR, brilliant from an air rifle to the .17hmr, also the IR helps if lamping as the cross hairs are so clear in the torch light.
  6. The farmers grass is his crop for his cattle.
  7. At 17 years of age you can use an air rifle unsupervised on private land with permission, show the greenkeeper your photo's and your BASC insurance and let him/her know that you are willing to shoot early morning or late evening, ie, when the course is closed to members. Ask if any footpaths run through the course and if they have dog walkers in the evening, do people use it as a short cut home etc. Don't turn up in cammo gear but just normally dressed. I don't know where you are, inner city, rural etc but get to know the locals. My son and I started shooting by asking a friend who is a farmer, he said yes to his 200 acres, 2 years later we now have 4000 acres by word of mouth. People have asked us to shoot on their land because we behave properly, don't leave litter and are known in the community. If you can get one perm and do everything properly it's amazing how others will come. I wish you the very best of luck, ATB.
  8. A magazine is designed to carry pellets, bullets etc., if it is loaded but not in the weapon there is no problem. If the magazine is not fitted to the weapon can you fire it? The answer is no you can't, therefore no offence.
  9. Don't go Bio or electronic, use the keys. If anything goes wrong with the former 2 how do you open the safe?
  10. Hawke 3 x 9 x 50 AO IR, it now sits on the .17hmr. Some say the IR is not needed, but if lamping it helps to highlight the crosshairs quickly. Damn good scopes which won't break the bank. It used to sit on my HW80k. I put it on the .17hmr because it was so good for the money.
  11. + 1 with Dougy, and I just noted he is from my County.
  12. The 455 is nowhere near as accurate as a 452, they are ok but just dont really work. Get a 452.
  13. This wont help you but I use the same and have had no problems.
  14. >22 Crosman Premier in hollow point, pointyones don't work well because they can be loaded badly, ie, with the point to one side of the lands.
  15. RWS or Eley subs, both cycle well, are very quiet and accurate.
  16. Avon skin so soft or Pampers baby wipes. They HAVE to be PAMPERS as others do not work, own brand etc. I tried both and was fine.
  17. Have a search for a HW80k, easy to get over 12 ft/lbs, very accurate and will last a lifetime. Mine is 26 years old and still going strong. I use a Hawke scope 3 x 9 x 50 Sport with AO and IR, a good scope for around £100.00 ish. ATB.
  18. CZ for the .22 and the .17hmr, if you are looking for a Remington 700 in .243 check the trigger. If the trigger has a ribbed effect you will be ok, if the trigger is smooth you need to check the serial number on this website, "xmprecall.remington.com", some Remington 700 and 7 series have a trigger fault that can lead to an accidental discharge and they are being recalled to Riflecraft to be fixed. ATB.
  19. CZ 452 .22lr with a moderator, really quiet and almost bomb proof.
  20. A friend of mine recently purchased a new Savage .223 with a new scope for £595.00.
  21. As long as you have lawful authority or reasonable excuse you can carry an unloaded shotgun in public without a case or slip. A guy in central London used to make a point of carrying his to and from his RFD on one day a year. This does NOT apply to Section 1 weapons or air weapons. The main problem with this legislation is that if you try it you will get pounced upon fairly quickly !!
