    Amazon.co.uk

I work for a very large company and an email came around saying that Amazon Business would still accept Visa Credit cards so all purchasers were authorised to set up Amazon business accounts. Having done so, Amazon Business basic is free to set up and is even linked to my normal Amazon account. Business Prime is a further £40 a year and does nothing for me other than get free delivery for the year as I don't want access to their accounting software or 30 day payment terms. Other than it having a separate (but identical feeling) app, and the fact it quotes the prices ex. VAT I can't see any substantial difference. And no, it doesn't come with Music or Videos so you can't just switch and cancel the other subscription if you want them still.
  2. Albert. Any decent locksmith will sell you three cylinders to suit your needs but probably charge you in the £10 region for similar to what you've found at Screwfix. They will also be able to re-pin two of them to match the first one and charge you around a fiver for each of these though the bloke I use often does them free if he's in a good mood. Obviously the keys that came with the second two cylinders will now be useless so you'll need to get extra keys cut if you want more than the couple that come with one cylinder. The mother in law keeps putting the back door key on a windowsill and leaving the window open. I've had it keyed so that it only operates the back door from the inside so anyone stealing it can't let themselves in anywhere. The outside of the same door is suited with the front door, patio, garage and shed. If you can't find a decent/cheap local service then I can give you the number of one that will mail......obviously I would have them sent to a work/ relatives address (but then I am only a couple of steps short of the tin foil hat brigade!) Finally, make sure you measure all three cylinders before ordering noting which is the external/ internal measurement, especially if you want a thumb turn on any of the insides or buy a lock with "anti-snap" in the description. Sorry if I'm going down the egg sucking route or on the flip side PM me if your not sure how to measure these. Good luck, H.
  3. Peltor bluetooth ear-defenders..............then they can mystically go missing each time you go shooting! And you can feel epic shooting magpies with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.....or the Spice Girls.......... or DJ Jazzy Jeff.....
  4. There is always someone with more smarts than me that knows the simple answer.....thank you.
  5. If Eley say they make their stuff in the UK and Fiocchi say they make their stuff in Italy......Why do some of my Eley 410 trap shells have Fiocchi stamped on the brass? Even if they are produced under the same roof, this is a basic oversight. If I can't trust them not to mix the brass up, how can I trust them not to mix the powders or measures up. When I'm setting explosives off inches from my face I like to think someone has given their full attention to every detail of the production and this doesn't give me that confidence.
  6. Down packs small but is too high maintenance for this country as it doesn't like the damp. For those dates I wouldn't go too warm either as you'll just sweat your knackers off. Personally, if I'm not going too far from the car I like to just take a spare duvet even though I own half a dozen bags. Far more comfy and only a tenner to replace instead of wash! Whilst you are in the shop, get a roll mat( like a foam yoga mat). Most of your heat goes into the floor or out through your cot bed and this will stop that. We sleep on the snow in Norway and these are a godsend. I recon you can be warmer with a mat and no bag than a bag and no mat. Again, personally avoid air mats as they aren't as warm and if you are as bony as me you just poke through and touch the floor anyways!
  7. Considering your location I would make Modern and Antique firearms on the Tucton Road Christchurch my first point of call. I know Ghillie hasn't been in the best of health but I'm sure he still does powders. I would rank him among the top firearm and ballistics experts in the country. He is always willing to give advice and if you are anything like me, gently point out why your bright ideas aren't quite so bright! Just beware some of his equally willing to help but not quite so knowledgeable customers who like to hang around, unless you happen to enjoy rambling war stories...........!
  8. He hasn't changed his prices since July 2013?
  9. Could be the ammo. Some shells get little bulges when they crimp them as the lead pushes out on the hull. My missus has tight chambers (ooh err) and finds Eleys the worst with up to one in five needing an extra shove. I'm assuming your not ramming a 3" shell into a 2" or 2 1/2" chamber but never having tried don't know how hard it would be.

    Fogs or doxes

Have seen this on TV. (Taming foxes, not breeding with dogs) Horizon S48E08 (2010): The Secret Life of the Dog - BBC The BBC visited the Russian farm in the above episode. I can't find the whole thing but google brings up a good clip of it at: https://vk.com/video14543928_162125467

    Sloe Gin

+1. Can't beat cracking a demijohn of slider with friends on a lazy summers afternoon..........
  12. If its not gone already then I'll take it.... I can collect most times to suit you.
  13. Perfect, thank you. I'll look him up and see what can be done.

    B&Q

If there is no other local/cheaper option then sign up to Tradepoint. It's just B&Q but pretending it's for the trade. Bizarrely they are based in the same stores, sell the same stock (you can pay for any items from the B&Q shop floor at the Tradepoint tills) but charge different prices! Even stranger, 25% of the time they seem to charge more not less....but I digress.... Most importantly for you, orders over £50 they will deliver next day for free.
  15. I was about to buy a 12 guage roll turn over tool off of the fleabay but would rather give my money to someone off of here.......unless of course one of you is called "Libby Lemons" in which case I'll just get on and buy it! I could also do with card punches in .410 and 12 if you happen to have any. Thanks in advance, H.
  16. Properly installed closed cell urethane foam (PIR/PUR), similar to the stuff celotex is made of, has nearly double the R value of fiberglass or Rockwool and the added benefit of creating a draught and moister impermeable membrane if you are driving at passivhaus. This does mean you have to give some thought to moisture management, especially interstitial on roof timbers. Install quality makes a huge difference and so R values for blown/injected foam are given as a range (from "a bit better than other stuff" to "just short of aerogel") I would also avoid installing anytime other than the summer as it needs certain minimum temperatures to really react well and one of the ingredients stinks of fish if it isn't all reacted! Also, beware opencell urethane which doesn't give you the moisture management problems but also allows air movement and has a lower R value, similar to Rockwool. Running external air supplies or balanced flues to woodburners/boilers etc can also reduce draughts as there is obviously an equal quantity of cold air entering your house as there is hot gasses leaving your flue.
  17. GMK (the beretta importers) run a sponsorship scheme for young shooters. They will fit and loan him a new gun and pay for his entry into certain competitions. The scheme was called something like "Beretta Young Shots", google will tell you the rest. This link might help. http://www.gmk.co.uk/content/pdf/young-shots.pdf Good luck, H.
  18. Normally says on the sleeve of the anchor bolt what size bit you'll need, just check when you pick them up.(Rawl M10 need 16mm, M8 need 14mm, M6 need 12) Also, check the size of the holes in your cabinet, M12's can need 13mm and maybe even M10's might be too big to just 'drop in' as they can need 11mm. Very few manufacturers make their M10s at 10mm! Finally the shields on the smaller bolts are smaller, so for Rawl, a M10 needs 65mm hole in the brick, M8 needs 55mm, M6 needs 50mm. I think that's enough rope for you to go hang yourself with!
  19. Unfortunately the sort of person that I don't want knowing that I'm a gun owner isn't going to be too worried about the Data Protection Act. To randomly name a few: Amnesty international, all the anti-hunting charities, the national bank of Iran, Sinn Fein, my old school, etc are all governed by the Data Protection Act. I would be equally displeased to find they had on file that I am a gun owner! Too add to this, most GP's are self employed and many practices are limited companies. Are we to trust that they all have secure systems? Furthermore, anyone can buy or set up a practice. Dozens of sham lawyers and law firms are shut down each year and a quick search of the news/ internet shows that the General Medical Council experiences the same problems. Again, the fact I have firearms is need to know. The system would work equally well if the NHS reported all mental concerns to the police for them to cross reference with the register therefore the NHS do not need to know. For context, the police don't allow safes to be in view to people you've allowed into your own front room and at least I know none of my visitors are here on EU right to work permits!
  20. The guy who runs Purbeck shooting school/ground used to offer custom stocks so probably would have a few originals that he has removed. Probably no good for the Semi but might help Norrie, although asking the google for custom stocks near you might throw up some options a little closer than Dorset! Still, postage on a fore end can't be much.
  21. 7 of the 8 arrested for terrorism in July 07 were medics, many working for the NHS (remember Glasgow airport). Last month a medic was arrested returning to the uk, believed to be returning from terrorist training camps. Large numbers of foreign nurses and doctors fill roles within the UK (the government has only just started to address the problem of some of them speaking no English!) I don't mind the NHS having to inform the police if I happen to turn out to be a lunatic but they should do this for everyone so that decisions can be made as to whether I should be relieved of my guns/ cars/ children/pilots licence, etc. I don't see why the NHS need to be aware of my gun ownership, the fact I'm bonkers should be passed to the police regardless for them to check their records and deal with, watch or ignore me accordingly.
  22. I feel like being a pedant (pronounced peeee-nis) today. I don't fish but if I remember the law correctly it applies to fishing as well, hence lead weights must be over a certain size. Anything smaller, such as most shot weight, is made from other things just like in the wildfowling world. Not sure how close a rat has to get to the water before you have to start worrying about the legality of .177 or .22
  23. I know boats not bikes, but that sounds like air starvation not fuel as your plugs would start to show symptoms of running too lean. Ignition coil breakdown can have similar sympoms but I would expect to find a wet or rich plug in the problem cylinder. I'd go simple and with the filter off check that the butterflies are fully opening at full throttle. Also check that the butterfly for the choke is fully open. Also check the linkages for both of these as (from cold, wet, everyone is overtaking me and I want to go home now experience) its too easy to manipulate the valves at the carb when checking them and never notice you've forgotten to re connect the choke linkage /set throttle cable too long / or disconnected linkage bars between carbs if you are running more than one! As mentioned above, could be sticky/broken reeds but I wouldn't expect such a loss of power. Good luck, H.
  24. +1 for cookoff13's post #8 .... energy of recoil=mass x velocity x velocity, so less lead helps but less speed helps twice as much. Semi's have less perceivable kick. Also, they are easier for 'less strong' people to hold in a correct position for longer as only one barrel means the weight is further back. On the flip side, depending on what you want to do, they aren't always "acceptable form". Also beware, the lighter the gun, the harder it will kick for the same ammo. A good gun shop should let you take a few out and try them because how they feel to her in the shop and how they feel when she shoots can be two different things.
