  1. Not sure - not really keen to be honest Just more ammunition for the antis really Fair enough i have never and will never shoot one but if every animal legged it like that i dont think i would do it
  2. It does not seem to be hard for them to get in the smaller spaces as they just close their wings us Harry
  3. You defo dont really want them getting out once they have been in - they become educated
  4. No probs - thats good No just peg it down
  5. Looks good that - we made ours - or someone made it lol - in sections and we cable tie it together so it can be moved Be careful its out of sight as we had a few traps smashed this year
  6. A lad that worked for me in the motor trade did it - im normally pretty easy going but when he did it i went mad and had a right go at him The very next day i was in a brand new demonstrator - it had no fuel in it - yep you got it - i did the exact same thing - i think i got to about 75 quid and then realised my error ! Much fun and laughter at work that day as i got the truck out to collect me and the car and drain it all out !
  7. Great idea I am not really up on it but i have put lots of posts on various sites about the benefits of shooting and most people are positive or want more info. I post on sites like RSPB when people ask why birds are declining and also the wildlife trusts
  8. Ours is birch trees - we did a clearfell project about 4 years ago and its come back with amazing species and diversity - but very thick !
  9. I manage to do most of our with my digger hahaha Make them nice and wides for bees and butterflies too
  10. I am on insta gram and i dared to disagree with a wildlife trust and their initial what do you think of us releasing pine marten positive spin. They started deleting posts and emailing me direct - it was raining so every time they deleted - i reposted with more information - questioning why they were deleting because it made the whole thread look pro release. They eventually gave up and mu comments are still on - and have encouraged sensible - mainly - discussion.
  11. Brilliant -, we did similar fed the birds and then had a day cutting rides for the beaters - Hard work but slept well last night !
  12. They are not in a pen - they are on my 2 acre pond - im lucky i have a bout 20 ponds of various sizes. These are wild ducklings that come off early - before the flies have hatched - i used about 50 kg to give them a boost early on - these and the farmland birds too. As a shoot we spend many thousands on various types of hungry gap - early breeding season feeding - and reap the rewards
  13. We did feed them meal worms - and we had about 100/150 wild ducklings - it doesnt cost that much at all really
  14. Try meal worms We feed these to the young wild ones The soften and float
  15. Try radios in the pens Park the shoot truck by the pen and move daily Get some straw and branches and make hides Plant brambles over pallets for next year once the birds have left the pen
  16. Good for you - Im not interested in how or far i suppose - Just if they have a chance - but each to their own # All i do know is tame duck will ruin a lovely pond / pool like this
  17. Looks really special = Honestly dont ruin it Get a feeder out and the wild duck will find it - they wont make half the mess Yes i agree Goodness - i wouldnt want to shoot one reared duck let alone 4or5000 !
  18. Thats mega - please dont go and spoil that with tame Mallard - use it for flighting
  19. We just use normal feeders and throw some in the water edge / bank side when passing Ours are wild ducks though
  20. Be good for bugs and stuff that will ! The chicory will thicken up - some of mine from last year is 5 ft tall too
