    And me What a pain
  5. If not BASC - i do believe we should join one of the organisations
  6. Indeed and most of all - you cant spot them if you are not there
  7. Thats a good point - the number of stock doves up here this year has absolutely boomed - not so many feral but i think the falcon sorts them and the collared doves
  8. And so many dont look at the lamp Its my land - been shooting there for 30 years with the lamp and usually get 15-20 year Had over 70 with the thermal Good enough evidence for me
  9. I have one currently that i have been after for 3 weeks - i have had it in the scope once and was not quick enough i put a camera up and it comes one night at 2 am - then nothing then it comes at 4am then 12.30 am - then misses for a day or two then back at 4 am Obviously these times are not accurate but what i mean is its totally totally random We used to go out with the lamp and maybe shot the odd one - but most nights thought there was nothing about - Thermal really does open your eyes
  10. To be honest i think the opposite - having sat with thermal this year most nights for 3 4 5 hours a night i think there is far far more foxes about than any of us realise
  11. Shot circa 60/70 on our shoot of 270 acres this year - still odd one about Set up a bait station
  12. Long overdue I think the fact that a father cant smack a child was the part of the downhill spiral
  13. Up here i commented to one of the chaps the other day what a high percentage of young birds i had been shooting - over 75 percent Same with so many animals and birds - been a great breeding year
  14. No as i say i dont think so Im there everyday and just about every night The local Turkey farm has not had Turkeys this year and so the foxes had moved from Turkey to Pheasant
  15. No i honestly dont think so - it is a find with everything in they would ever want - a pond / food cover Since that lot over circa 3 months i have only shot about 4 or 5 on the rest of 500 acres
  16. Noone knows until someone educates them and in such a case like this i think better safe than sorry Yes -sorry to derail a for sale thread but rather that than one of our members / shooting representatives make a mistake
  17. In a similar vein i have shot 50 foxes in one field this year Out of the first 40 38 were dogs ! I think the males are so much bolder as above and first to the food. The doe rats could be also caring for pups - the females also binge eat and so perhaps spend last time vulnerable to trapping
  18. The birds on the stubbles today are the birds on the rape tomorrow Get them where you can Just starting to notice them flocking up this week with the cooler nights or whatever it is
  19. Its so funny how we are all so different isnt it I would want them to return so i can shoot them too
  20. Loads and loads round us still on volunteer beans and wheat stubble still I have been out 3 /4 times a week for the last month - anywhere between 25-60 and usually a dozen or so crows My pals up the road has had over 700 this last 3 weeks - 151 last Saturday being the best on a single day Went to go again today but with rain forecast the beans are being ripped up - Oh well always Monday
  21. Check on Defra website Not sure but pheasants are classed as wild birds once released - it may however what the law says be the best PR to shoot when restrictions are on
