  1. Cheers bud. I did the same as I didnt get on too well with the foxpro one. Had some decent results with it as well on a couple of occasions last month.
  2. Good going buddy, and some nice pics.
  3. Nice shot and a good result. Out of interest did you use the vixen call that was already on the foxpro or download a new one?
  4. Good going. I live in the Dyfed Powys area and my renewal took just over 4 months. Various staffing changes but not a great times scale.
  5. Good shooting . The thought of 137 pigeons in a day is merely a dream for some of us. Keep up the good work
  6. Nice going. Plenty more shooting to be had looking at the amount of tracks.
  7. Spot on, keep up the good work.
  8. The only experience I had which is similar (not with a buried fox) was last July. I shot 4 fairly big fox cubs the one night and left them in the bottom of the field (I always let the farmer know as he likes to see them dead and then he disposes of them). I told him where the cubs were (2 in 1 gateway and 2 in another about 100 yards apart). I got a call to say that he could only find 3. After a couple of minutes of searching he found the missing cub about 40-50 yards away.
  9. Sounds like a cracking day. The Gun Porn photo is a little more then I can cope with though Have serious gun envy at the moment.
  10. As always seems to be the case the different forces view it differently. For example Durham do not view foxes as vermin even though this conflicts with the dictionary definition of vermin: Wild animals which are believed to be harmful to crops, farm animals, or game, or which carrydisease, e.g. rodents: As you have AOLQ on your ticket and a fox is covered by this you shouldnt have any problems.
  11. + 1 for this. Nice little calibre, puts the foxes down nicely with a well placed shot.
  12. With you 100% on that. Also, I always find my firearms team to be very helpful....just very very slow when it comes to renewals.
  13. No probs mate. Hope they work for you. As with most things different foxes different calls and tactics. Had a dog fox come charging in to the vixen call last week and yet last night one sat at the top of the bank (no safe shot) and barked every now and again then disappeared.
  14. Cheers Youngie. I was merely trying to get clarification as it seemed like a statement of fact. I have an open ticket for .17 HMR, .243 and .270 all of which have AOLQ so I have no concerns about the legality of my shooting. Also Dyfed Powys Police seem sensible in not applying a minimum calibre for foxes.
  15. As usual I am extremely jealous. Good shooting.
  16. ?is this your opinion or a statement of fact as there isnt a minimum calibre for a fox?
  17. All good points. I agree that generally if you are only ever going to shoot foxes a centerfire .22 is the way to go. I shoot a few deer with a friend in Devon and Dorset hence the .243 and .270. I had a .223 for years when I just shot foxes and it was a brilliant calibre.
  18. I totally agree with you on this matter unfortunately this isnt always the attitude of the FEOs who make the decision. I find that a 75 grain SST round from the .243 makes a lot more mess then a 130 grain soft point from the .270 but both end up with the fox being dead. Hopefully common sense will prevail and the FEO will approve the .243 but time will tell.
  19. Even closer then you think as I live up at Pentre Beirdd as well. PM me if you want to have a look at my .17 hmrs as I have a CZ452 and an Anschutz 1517.
  20. I live just outside Meifod. If he does suggest downgrading (he may not) he will probably just amend your paperwork there and then and there shouldnt be any delay or cost. When I had my first FAC 10 years ago I changed from a .22-250 to a .223 and the FEO at the time just changed the form for me. Mike
  21. Go for an Anschutz 1517. I have the 18" barrelled version with the thumbhole stock, love it.
  22. I shoot over a few thousand acres and have an open licence but still needed to fill in a form for one of the farms "for their records". I also got a call from the firearms team saying that when they assessed the land they found no sign of deer (I had mentioned that deer were found on the ground). When I gave them the dates that I shot 2 fallow bucks they stopped with that line of questioning.
