  1. I have just been given permission to shoot on some farmland, but i have to use fibre wads, There is no load data in any of my books ( apart from an old shooting times load book circa 1976) most of the components are impossible to get now. Does anyone have any loads for 70mm and 76mm cheddite hulls using fibre wads and lead shot, i have bluedot and longshot powder. thanks to anyone who can help.
  2. I have one of these, and that one is a beauty much better nick than mine, and its much cheaper than the price i paid for mine its a hell of a bargain. It is a bit of a lump and on the walk back to the car at the end of the day , i often think to myself " i should have just bought a 12 bore" its a club but it does the job.
  3. I have using Sam1 10 bore wads with 42 grams of steel shot, i have a bag of 3.5" TPS wads that i want to try. Can anyone give me load data for the TPS wads hopefully using 42 grams of shot, i have Remington and Cheddite cases and will be using steel powder.
  4. I got it from ebay, i could only get a red one but i painted it with some old fencing stain i had and it dulled it down ok The one in the picture is from www.clasohlson.com
  5. I made one for the Foreshore using a beach mat with a bit of old netting attached to it with different bits of hessian rope tied to the netting, it bends in with the bladderrack and other bits of shore debris pretty well. Last week while lying on the shore waiting for daybreak a blackbird landed right by my head and the alarm call it made when it realised i was there nearly made me soil my blind...it scared the **** out of me . Here is a pic of the sort of beach mat i used, it comes with a shoulder strap for carrying and it also has a couple of pockets that i can keep cartridges in.
  6. It might be worth your while casting your own bismuth shot in 4mm, i bought some bismuth off amazon and alloyed it with non lead (tin) solder and cast bismuth shot in BBB and size 1. Is quite easy to do and cos its non toxic you can melt and cast it in the kitchen when the wife is out
  7. I heard some while out yesterday, they were way up high and heading south,i also saw a small group while out in the garden today up high again and heading south
  8. Thanks i will keep on checking the Siarm site hopefully they should get it in soon
  9. The only place i have seen copper shot for sale is Siarm in Italy, and they have been out of stock all year, do you know of any other sources for copper? i would love to get some.
  10. Great information, thanks Have you ever tried chrono'ing a reloaded cartridge to see if it matches the speed as given in the load data?
  11. I watch his videos a lot,and i really enjoy them. But his reloading is a bit lively i did his short 10 bore load using HS6 powder, its a lightweight fast load. I loaded 2 to try out i fired one but cut the other one up, it was way over pressure it kicked like hell and i had difficulty extracting the cartridge from the gun.

    Mink

If you can dig a tunnel and put the live catch trap in that, what i did was to put the bait (cat food) in the tunnel end and then put the trap in so the mink had to go to the very end of the trap to try and get the food, that way they are more likely to set the trap off. When i put traps out in the open i had mink trying to reach through and get the bait from the ends and sides of the trap, sometimes setting the trap off and then they pull the trap about until they can get to the food.
  15. I have booked the day off work, i haven't decided where to go yet but i will be out some where.
  16. I had a group of magpies attack and kill a buzzard in my garden, i head a hell of a racket outside and the next morning i found the buzzard dead under the tree where the noise came from
  17. If there are loads that you have that you would recommend over the Lightning steel loads could you either send me the data on them or put it on the forum. And i will load some up. Thanks...james
  18. Yes it is very helpful, thank you I just picked up some SSB150 at the gamefair yesterday so i will need to get stocked up on reloads. cheers...james
  19. I am just getting some SSB150, and would be interested in the load you have for the 10 bore if you are willing to share it.
  20. I have the Stanley flask and food flask and find them great, the flask keeps my coffee hot for 8 hours+
  21. Its a lot easier to get than Steel or Longshot and at £27 a lb much cheaper than them as well. My local shop wants £49.99 for a lb of longshot (and its not in stock)
  22. The Lightning steel is advertised to do 1650 fps, on Johnnytheboys's tests it came out at 1373 fps and others say it does not reach the advertised velocity. On the Maxam website they have load data for 36gram steel using SSB 150 powder and that is supposed to reach 1312 fps at 9500psi so that is reasonably close, so that is probably the Lightning steel load. I am just trying find a load that is cheaper and easier to source the components than using hard to find Alliant Steel powder
  23. The Eley site list the Lightnings charged with SSB+150, would it be worthwhile loading with SSB 150 and sending the loads for testing?
  24. Has anyone tried duplicating the Eley Lightning steel loads, i would seem easy to open a cartridge up and get a list of all the components . I would like to do some in BB and No2 shot.
  25. When i go out shooting the cartridges are put in one of the plastic mtm boxes, buy when i am reloading they are stored in the cardboard boxes that are labeled with all the load data on each box
